Project Procrastinators Party!

Melissa from The Inspired Room is having a linky party for all of us that have been putting off projects! We're supposed to declare our procrastination project and then (hopefully) work on it because in two weeks we're supposed to show the finished product. Yikes! Nothing like working under a deadline!

O.K. this is my project. Pretty drab looking right? I've been thinking about tackling this for two years now.

This is the little deck area that was left after we built the screened porch. We don't really use it. Well, hubby sits down when he's grilling but that's about it. However, I do see it out of my big kitchen window. So I've been wanting to do some thing special.

I want to extend the harlequin pattern of my kitchen floor out to the deck. I've been putting it off because a)I have no mathematical abilities and don't know how to figure out how to make a harlequin pattern on a floor and b)I have no mathematical abilities and really don't know how to figure out how to paint a harlequin pattern! Somehow angles and snapping string and things seems to be involved!

So my plan of action is to clean the deck with some deck cleaner and then paint it white (with deck paint) and then I'm going to take a leftover tile from the kitchen and just use it as a guide and take it from there. Everything but the grill will be painted and the planters will be planted with new herbs and flowers and hopefully I'll come up with some low cost ideas to pretty it up cause I don't want to spend alot of money.

So hope the weather cooperates for me and I can get this done in between planting things!

Check out The Inspired Room if you want to see all the other Procrastinators or maybe you want to join in the fun - it's not too late!

There's still time to enter the $100 Home Depot Gift Card Give-a-way. Friday is the deadline. See the post below and follow the instructions.

That will look awesome! I'm sure it will be a time consuming project, but well worth it in the end!

Oh, this is going to be great! I did this at my old house in GA to the small screened porch & it really made a huge difference in the space. I painted it directly on plywood, but I've seen others do it right on the planks too. You're gonna love it! Let me know if you'd like to see any of my pics.

Hi Manuela and thanks for stopping by to see my project and many thanks for your advice.

I love the ideas for your deck. How creative you are. I read on another blog (don't remember whose) about "aging" clay pots with yogurt. Not sure if that's the look you're going for but it's worth checking out.

It sounds like a wonderful plan. And a lot of work. (I would never have the nerve to tackle that.) I can't wait to see it. I like the plan of continuing your kitchen floor pattern outside. Cool!

Wonderful plan - I hope the weather co-operates! White is so fresh and crisp - I love it! I am planning to paint our side porch floor - but white isn't too practical with children and pets - so gray will be good, but maybe I'll find some all weather rugs to liven things up! I have some wicker that I started to prime but than we had cold weather and far too much breeze on the nicer days ... and now 5 days of rain with two more in the forecast!!! I am itching to get at it, but my oh my the weather is not on my side!

I am doing this also but I procrastinated so much I was a day late with my post and photo.
Wow you are taking on a big project. Mine is just redoing 3 old barstools. But you are so good at how much you accomplish and how lovely it all turns out that I can't wait to see. I tell the younger girls that work with me that when they get married if they do not want to do all the cooking then they need to make a killer BBQ set up complete with music, TV and an applause button.
Heres to the next two weeks.
