Paint Party!

Joy of http://joysofhome.blogspot.com/ is having a paint party to celebrate the wonders of spray paint. Doesn't that sound right up my alley! I'm definitely BFF with spray paint, craft paint, oops paint, any paint really. This is part of a project I worked on in May. I had the patio table (which I spray painted white) but no chairs. So I found two ladder back chairs at the thrift store and used spray paint from Lowe's.

I already had a stencil with numbers and letters on it. I got this idea from the Pottery Barn Catalog.

This is a chair that I recently found at Goodwill. It's taken me 3 months to find a similar style as the original two. It still needs another coat of paint and the stencil. My husband wants 4 similar looking chairs so it's taking me a while to find them. Me, I'd do different chairs but marriage is all about compromise right? I need to find one more. Most of the chairs of this style have rush seats which wouldn't last too long outside. So it's taking a while.

Have a great day everyone (we're getting drenched by Fay but since we're in a drought I'm trying to be happy about it).

xo,

Manuela

Oh Manuela, I'm so glad your back!!! Your blog was so inspiring and was much missed. Glad to see you back to the blogging neighborhood;)

I'm so happy you're back. I used to visit your old blog---you just didn't know I was there. It's wonderful that you joined the party. I really like the table and chairs and the added touch of the stenciled numbers is very fun!

I laughed at your comment about being friends with ALL kinds of paint. My husband jokes that if our house ever caught fire they would have to evacuate the neighborhood because of all the paint cans that would be exploding. Yep, I'm addicted to paint.

we are all such spray paint addicts aren't we!? lol! I love the different colors on the chairs, I used to have a set of chairs like that (second hand) that had the rush seats but they disintigrated long ago.

I have a metal table just like that. 6 chairs (metal), tea cart, chaise lounge, side table and coffee table. I bought them new about 15 years ago. The table and 4 chairs as a set on clearance. The rest at the manufacturer when they have their annual warehouse sale for .... 10-25 cents on the dollar! I bought a chaise, round coffee table, 2 chairs, tea cart, side table and would have gotten a swinging settee if I could have gotten it into my 91 honda civic too! Yep, I had wrought iron furniture hanging out of my car in every direction.

Well, being exposed to the elements for the past 15 years, they are in need of paint. DD wants them Crimson Tide Red. Tide fan that I am, I will have to think on that...

Great paint job. I know you look forward to getting your 4th chair and completing the set.

Great paint project! You've inspired me to maybe paint my metal table and chairs. They have been white and rusty for too long! Stop by my blog; I have an award for you, if you care to accept it. Sally

I love the stencil idea! I would be happy with different chairs too :-), but you are right about compromising!

I am a painting fool myself...I paint everything insight - or mosaic it...

The chairs look great. It looks like you started back up your blog about the same time my twin and I started ours. She tried to change the background today and messed things up alittle. I'm going to see if my daughter can fix it after school. Those teenagers are amazing on the computer!

Very nice! I love collecting pieces over time--only the rich can outfit their home to match all at once--the rest of us have to pace ourselves!!

Hi! I think I found you just as you were starting your blogging break! It's so nice to read that your husb. still has his job even though it's not 100% the way it should be. You have the right attitude of putting it in the Lords' hands--things generally work out how they're meant to. I loved reading your posts and am so glad you decided to blog again! Dana

WELCOME HOME, friend...and I love your new blog name!
This table and chairs are great. I saw the ones in Pottery Barn with numbers on them. My hubby smiled when he saw it because I have a little vintage metal stool with back that I painted years ago and put his old football numbers on it...lol

Hi Manuela :)

I loved this so much from your last blog, that I painted our initials on my chairs sorta like you did the numbers. I just love them :)

Thank you for posting about the tiered cake stand, because I wanted one, but I had no idea what I would do with it. Great ideas!

Thanks for visiting, and I love all of the furniture that are in your pics. We have been there with job changes, losses(one while daughter was in college and very sick)We look back and see the miracle of how God provided. I was also a stay at home Mom which was necessary with my daughters illness, but I did some cleaning and work whenever called to help out, and God always provided enough. I'll be visiting again. Blessings Jackie

Great project! Besides thrift stores and garage sales, you might try surfing Craigslist for eXtra ladderback chairs (there's even a freebies section).

Welcome Back! I was a lurker sometimes. I just started blogging in April.

The economy is causing problems for a lot of us. I was a teacher in a private, Christian school and was laid off last year at this time so I decided to retire a bit early. I understand about budgeting now and working part time. Any tips about "making do" with less income would be great!

Manuela, It is so wonderful to have you back in the blogging world. I really missed your inspiration and wonderful thoughts. I thought of you often this summer.
I am glad that your hubby did not have to change jobs after all, but can undrstand the pressure it has put on you.

I love this project....paint is a fabulous accessory!

Have a great weekend,
