Romantic Blue Toile Guest Bedroom

Hi everyone! I was able to work on my guestbedroom slash office slash husband's dressing room yesterday (I'm sure all of you in older smaller houses have rooms that have to function for more than one thing)!

I'm sure by now everyone knows that I love toile! So I chose a blue toile for this room. But it can't be too "precious" as my husband uses the closet in this room for his clothes and he dresses in here plus it is our guestroom and we have male and female guests.

So I didn't go over board with the toile! Here are some close-ups. All the pictures will enlarge if you click on them.

What would a bedroom be without a chamber pot? Just kidding...it is an antique chamber pot though! It makes me giggle when I look at it there - I may or may not tell guests what it is!

The brooches were gifts and I don't really wear jewelry other than earrings so one day I just decided to stick them on this lampshade. Then the other day I decided to wrap a string of pearls around the top. I really love the way it looks! Now I'm trying to think of something to do with the final!

Now this adorable crown is from my friend Rosemary Rose's Petite Maison. One of the joys of blogging has been seeing my blogger friends follow their dreams and just grow as people. I've watched Rosemary go from making things for her family to making gorgeous things that sell in shops! She really makes the most gorgeous crowns and banners and she has an Etsy shop!

The headboard is from a thriftstore, the painting on the top is a water color done by my friend Judy just for me and the "dream" work is vintage lace and fabric with fabric letters. The nightstand is from TJ Maxx and I think I got the lamp at Target.

You can see a bit of my Inspire Me board that I showed in the post below. The other side of the room is my desk and my bookcase.

I'm not finished yet! I found a little shelf at Goodwill that has a groove for plates so I think I'll put that up above my board and I need to find a bedside clock. You're never really done right!

I haven't gotten around to painting the bookcase yet because it's been so hot I can't open a window! I'm planning on painting my desk too - but it really needs to cool down before I do any of those painting projects! I have some organization projects coming up as well.

I hope you enjoyed seeing part of this room (the pretty part LOL)! Now I've got to go clean my house! Have a great week everyone!

Your room turned out so cute. I love the yellow cover on your bed. Have thought about getting one for my bed but I just love my white bedspread. I can't get rid of it even if it is 10 years old.

Such a sweet room! I love the chamber pot full of flowers - aren't you glad we have flush toilets now?

I am in the slow process of doing over 2 guest rooms - your ideas are very inspirational.

If I was there, I wouldn't come out! What a bad guest I would be!

What guest couldn't sleep peacefully in that beautiful room? I love the chamber pot, the brooches, and that window pane. Plus, toile is always beautiful and the colors you've used are peaceful, sleepy colors.

Thanks for showing these pictures. I live in one of those older houses where rooms have to serve multi purposes. You've got me rethinking how I can use my office more advantageously, especially since we don't have a guest room.

As always... it looks lovely!! I love the idea with the brooches!! I never thought of using pearls that way... and I have a lot of yard sale jewelry that would make a very fun lamp for the girls in their room. I will definitely have to try it!! Thanks!! :)

It turned out so beautiful! I love it! My favorite of all is the art you chose and how it's not too matchy matchy but looks perfectly coordinated! I'm still working on the art of that! You nailed it.
Thanks for your sweet comments today too! :)
Blessings!

I love that color of toile- looks periwinkle on my monitor.
What is the coverlet made of? Looks kind of like matelasse, but more intricate.
The second bedroom on our main level is the guest room/computer room. It's also where I have my dresser since our bedroom is too small for two dressers. So I know exactly what you mean about dual purpose rooms!

Perfect! I really like the combination of pictures you chose for the wall. The room looks really nice.

BTW, my hubby dresses in our guest room some too. He gets up at 5am to walk so he dresses in there ....because I'm still asleep.

Hi Manuela,
I was just visiting your blog when I spied one of my crowns. How sweet it looks on your statue. Of course your room is amazing!! Thanks so much for the sweet comments about me and my art.
I just did a post on how I don't have any blue in my home. I love the blue you used, it's so soft, and pretty.
Thanks again,

Manuela,

Thanks for visiting..
You and I BOTH....yes...love toile.
It's something that will NEVER go out of style. It's a classic and it's beautiful.
I love the window on the wall, and the little crown on the cherub.
By the way... it's my fluffy white dog that uses the beds. Kobe, on the couch, just grabs the beds and drags them around the house.arrggh.
:-) love the pic of your dog.
have a good one.

Hey-
I don't know if you realized when you came over to my blog that I had a give-a-way going on all week and each comment went into the drawing and you won.

I don't know what is up with google lately but pictures disappear (and it's not just my blog) and then reappear and then some disappear again-I tell you this because you won one of Our(My husband and I) Photography art on our other blog. I went over to look at it this morning to see how it looked and there are some things missing. The code is there and it is correct but you can't view everything. At this time I think everything has at least one of the pictures up (if it comes in color, b/w and sepia it may only show the b/w but at least you can view them.) If there are some you can't view but you would like me to e-mail them so you can take a look-let me know.

My favorite thing is the vintage window on the wall. I've seen these for sale and tried to talk dh into buying one. I couldn't really think of a place to put it, but since seeing this post, any wall would look good. :o)

Hi Manuela,
Well, you know how much I LOVE yellow, white and blue rooms, so I'm LOVE with what you've done here. Every little detail is pure magic! And as for the brooches on the lampshade...genius!
Now I know where the idea of 'soaring birds holding a banner' came from (on your side bar). I see things, put them away in my dusty old brain, and then can't remember where they came from. I was leaving a comment over at Happy Homebody, saw your name, came over, and...there it was. Ha! I just posted about making a different sort of Nest Banner.
Have a great weekend,
M.L.

I've been having computer problems, so I'm going back to check posts I've missed. I'm so glad I came back to see this one. I want to come stay in your guestroom! I'll even look the other way when your husband comes in to get dressed! This is beautiful. I love toile too, and this blue is so soothing. The bejeweled lampshade is so clever and looks stunning. (I also won't use your chamber pot for its original intended use while I'm visiting)! laurie
