A Bit of Fall on My Deck

I stopped by Home Depot to get some pansies for my planters on my deck and found a few markdown mums. They're huge! They were originally something like $13 and now they're marked down to $2.97.

I trimmed out some of the dead parts. I don't really know why they're marked down? They have plenty of buds that still need to open. Anyway, I also plant them in the ground when they're done blooming and they always come back taller and looser looking (more natural looking I'd say). I don't know if that works for all garden zones, but it works here in Georgia.

Well I saved on the mums but splurged on that delicious lime green planter! It's just a bit lighter than my kitchen but I figure it ties the outside in nicely with the inside (see I use my favorite colors and patterns outside as well as in)! It's large which makes it easy to see from inside the kitchen which is the whole point of this deck anyway.

I don't have a window over my sink but I have this window! I always try to have something pretty to look at when you look out. That window seat gets used by everybody including the dog. So if you enlarge the photo and see dog hair all on the seat...well that's Maxie's hair!

Sometimes I sit here with a book and something to drink. Sometimes my daughter, the dog and myself are all squeezed on the window seat after school! We talk about her day and he gets some lovin! Oh he loves it when everyone pays attention to him!

Hopefully my flowers won't drown and/or rot with all this rain we've been having!

I like gnomes!~smile

Thanks so much for dropping by and have a wonderful weekend everyone! We're going to try installing a new toilet in our downstairs bathroom Saturday- so wish us luck! My husband hates plumbing jobs!

That out your window looks like a gorgeous painting. Makes me want to paint my patio furniture red. I forgot how cute your kitchen is!

Way to go on your plants. I got lucky several times this year at Lowe's when I was buying summer plants. Maybe I'll get lucky on mums and pansies too.

It's beautiful, Manuela.

We usually have pots of mums sitting around and then do the same as you. Always seems to work.

It's so beautiful. I'm in the middle of fall gardening ( does 98 degrees count as 'fall'?) and so your post is quite an nspiration.

p.s. in my new studio, I am painting the floor and I am planning on doing a harlequin pattern on it. Didn't you do a tutorial on how you did your porch? I can't find it...

Love the little tree in your windowbox! I planted only little trees in mine last year. It looked like a mini forest. Love the windowseat! I have the perfect place in the upstairs dormer for one, just never got around to building it.

I love the pattern on your deck, how fun! What a wonderful window to look out, I also have a window seat in my kitchen and bedroom, oh and my craft room. I mostly put them in the house for my dog to sit in! But right now they don't have the beautiful view that yours has!

I went to home depot today. Your home depot must have been having a sale because the $2.97 mums I saw at my HD was nothing like what you got. The one you got were $12- $15 at my HD.
I did get a free chick fil a sandwich!!!

Very lovely. A very good price for such a huge mum like that one. That little bench new the window does seem so relaxing. How nice.

And thank you for reminding me the name of that picture ~ the one we both have. ;) I just put her up on the wall today.

Good luck. I hope you have the perfect weekend!
