Guess What I’m Doing Today
Can you guess what I might be doing today?
Yep, playing with dishes and adding some Valentine decorations!
Totally unrelated....Have you bought your primroses yet? I bought two and put them in green mercury glass votives that I got at Big Lots! I went in to look at their garden benches (one of mine is falling apart) and took a look at the home decor area and they have lots of Mercury Glass items. So look there if you’ve been searching for some.
Back to playing….
Have a great weekend everyone!

Playing with plates sounds like fun. I am a sucker for a plate:) Have fun.
What a darling Valentine Tree! I did something similar last year with little hearts I made out of fabric.
Have fun decorating! Can't wait to see!
Cute cute pillows by the way!
Pamela
Oh I love your flowers. I had no idea what Primrose looked like but I’m liking it. I may need to run out to Lowes and buy a few for my home.
You have such a beautiful dish collocation!

Sadly, primroses don't do well for me. They'd do fine indoors, but they don't make it outdoors for some reason. I did buy a cyclamen and have it in the sunroom (which is heated and cooled), and I think it should do well there. I also (after seeing your pictures) have a hyacinth (which is about to bloom!) growing in a small transferware cup/bowl. I even put the moss on top of the dirt! PRETTY!!
Could you tell me the name of the pattern for the red transferware plate that has the embossed looking white border? I collect red transferware and have not seen that pattern. Thanks!

Oh so pretty! Big Lots, eh? Hmmm...
I love to see your Friendly Village set out on display and must add that I've not seen the platter that says "Bless This House." Anyway, it gives me a little thrill to think that we share a love for those dishes.
Have fun sprucing things up for Valentine's Day.
Sounds like a fun day to me. I'm about to do the same. I pulled out my box of valentine decorations last night, and now I'm ready to play. LOL
Your post makes me want to go buy some primroses.

Love your red and white transferware, Manuela! I can't wait to see what you've done.
I just love primroses amd looked for them the other day in the store but they didn't have any. I love the bright colors.
Your red check plates are fabulous!
Hugs, Rhondi
So many lovely touches. Can't wait to see.
Hello Manuela~
Can't wait to see what you play with and come up with.... I love Big Lots.. you can find some great things sometimes. Have fun! JGG
Oh, playing with dishes is so wonderful! Have a great time and I know you're going to make pretty! Love those little flowers!
Be a sweetie,

Yes, I just bought three primroses at Kroger the other day...so, so pretty, and what fun to play with dishes!! I've never seen the Bless this Home plate of FV, and I'd love to have a closer view of that rectangular platter, which I'm thinking I must have!! REally, i NEED one like that! ;)
Suzanne
Where do you buy your Friendly Village?
Playing with dishes huh..some things never change even when we are grown up! the flowers...I could use some of those today, very pretty! Come say hi :D
I thought you must be playing with your hutch display when I saw the piles of dishes:>) Fun, and you always do such pretty things. I love the mercury glass votives. I havent been to Big Lots for months and they never seem to have cool stuff like that when I go. I love primroses too. Around here, after they die back, I tuck them into the ground in the spring in a nice shady spot and I have had good luck with them blooming again through the summer and then early next spring.
What a beautiful collection...I'm so jealous!
Manuela you are so inspiring! I love all of your pretty things and all of your creative ideas.
I LOVE Valentine's day and everything "Hearts and Flowers". It is such a happy time.
I have red transferware items in my collections too and I love it.
Thanks for sharing your pretties.
Love, Linda @ Truthful Tidbits
Sounds like so much fun and you have so many pretty things. I love to play with dishes. I can't wait to see what all you create. Hugs, Marty
I love plates, too. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Have fun!
I'm swooning over your red dishes and the red toile background in your cabinet! Love the valentine tree too! Enjoy your evening.
Blessings,
Sandi
Your green patterned dishes (is it transferware?--I not up on the different names of dishes:) - My dear MIL had dishes like this- and I miss her so much. She passed away in 1986 at the age of 58 from cancer. Anyway, the dishes remind me of wonderful times together at her house with family:)
Love your "playing with dishes":) sounds like so much fun! And your flowers are beautiful- appreciate seeing green from way up north where we are!!
Have a great rest of the week!

You just answered a question with your picture that I was mulling over today. I wondered if the primrose plants would do well in the house. I've tried them outside in the yard this time of year but it's too wet in Oregon and they looked awful very quickly.
I love those flowers.
Sounds like a perfect day. Love the plates!!
Very pretty! I love primroses, don't you?
Oh I just love playing with dishes...can I come over and play? I know it's rude to invite myself...but it looks like so much fun!!!
I guess great minds think alike because I just bought some primroses today...don't you love them?!!!
Enjoy!!!
XOXO
Cathy
Manuela, thanks for stopping to visit my blog. I love your primroses and of course all those beautiful dishes! I think I need to make a trip to Big Lots for some mercury glass! Last year I looked for primroses but couldn't find them anywhere down here. I always had them in Oregon. Cool that you also have lived in the Pacific NW. Do you miss living in Seattle? I miss seeing the mountains, but I don't miss the rain. Also loved the flowers and fruit and of course miss all that. Blessings, Marla
Love to see it when it's all done, love the dishes!
oh that sounds like fun...i won't be doing any decorating for a bit...as in three weeks we are off to italy and by the time we return it will be march....my mind is on getting things together and making a million lists in between working and doing my regular stuff.
i will check out big lots tomorrow here and see if i can find any mercury glass. i think i mentioned before i can never find any. target had a few pieces at christmas and i bought a really neat bowl which i have silver balls displayed in and bought a couple of little votives that are too small for anything but a little itty bitty candle. but, i will keep my eyes open and maybe stumble upon some one of these days :0
have a wonderful weekend. and as always i so enjoy seeing what you are up to and am so envious of your decorating point of view!
What fun Manuela! Yesterday I was playing with paper (valentines to be specific). Thank you for the tip on Big Lots and mercury glass! I always love what you do with it!!!
Warmly,
Tracey

I haven't played with dishes lately. I need to get my "playing with dishes" fix. You've inspired me to do so!
Brenda
Manuela...you SO CRACK ME UP! = ) I LOVE IT!
Gracie and I, too, went about playing today. We put the nativity scene away...FINALLY and cleaned and decorated the marble top buffet. I pulled down my Nani's lovely pink and white soup toreen and it's WAITING to have bulbs put in it! SO...we need instruction on how to force bulbs...would you?
Much love, Manuela!
Love your china cabinet...can't wait to see the results. I am coveting the red transferware.
I covet those dishes. I know it's a sin, but I can't help myself.
Ahhh...a spot of spring in your home! The primroses are beautiful. I love the way you swap out your plates with the seasons. So fresh and new....
Have a great weekend,
Jennifer
You have so many pretty plates to play with too. I'll bet your having lots of fun. We always love seeing what you come up with.
Blessings,
Marcia
I love your dishes... so pretty! I need to go to Big Lots to look at the mercury glass. Can't wait to see your Valentine's decor.
I love your dishes. Just beautiful! I know you were having some fun. Good for you.
Oh, those plates/dishes are gorgeous! I happen to love toile patterns. Looks like I need to get some Valentine decor now that I finally have a decent stash of Christmas stuff.
How do you not kill primroses? I've bought them before, but I don't think they like me.
FUN. Wish I was playing today.
Thanks so much for letting me know about the email. I have contacted google and hopefully I can get this account shut down. What a mess. I am so sorry for this problem. Hugs, Marty
So pretty Manuela!
I have no mercury glass items and need to find some. Of course you still have me on the lookout for Harlequin patterns as well. He!
Thanks for coming by! I'm so glad you like the flower pictures. I wasn't too sure about them. Now I do feel better. :)
Well you were having far more fun than me today. Work. :( I love your plate collection. Have a great weekend.
{{HUGS}} Amanda
Manuela, I have been off from work for a couple of days...and honey...I PLAYED...lol ;) Hope you enjoy every min. of your play time... ;) Nancy
Hi Manuela- I just discovered your blog and absolutely love it! I'm going to get some primroses- just the touch of spring I need here in freezing Minnesota! Can't wait to read more!
Looks like you are having a lovely time. A few years ago, I came home from our summer vacation to find that my husband made a big cupboard for our kitchen, with glass fronts. We needed it for storage, but he used a dark stain on it and took me quite a while to get used to seeing it there. Now, I know it definitely needs a makeover -- I'm thinking an off white, contact paper for the back and nice lace edging. Thanks for inspiring! Blessings, Tammy
I guessed that you were re-doing your china cabinet! It's always so pretty.
I always buy primroses but I can't seem to keep them alive...even my green-thumb mother has trouble.
Just beautiful...as always!
I have never done primroses! I do love a good trip to Biglots though!
Everything looks just great. I love playing in the plates.
