Collections

Hi everyone! Hope you all had lovely weekends! I’m worn out from putting up the last few fence posts and panels along the back of our property. I have sympathy for anyone that has to work outside in this heat and humidity! Anyway, I thought I’d share a collection that I know I haven’t shown before since it's fairly new.
shakers

My salt and pepper shakers! A small object but when grouped together  I think they make a statement.

By the way, the stand they’re on used to look like this…
Before

Dont’ be afraid to remake things so that they work better in your decor. I spray painted this stand with a semi-gloss and replaced a few of the clear crystals with red.
after
I think it works better for me this way!

This collection began because I started noticing S&P shakers at the thriftstore that I thought were pretty. Either because of their shape or because of what they were made out of.
Shakers2

It's great that they don't take up much room!
silvershaker

The fun of collecting is hunting and gathering is as much as the displaying don't you think? Sometimes I only find one shaker and sometimes I find a pair - it doesn't matter.
plate

Above them are two of my “Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread” plates (I have a small collection of those).
pots
On the bottom of this corner table is my collection of silverplated coffee/tea pots.
pots2

I guess I have a quite  a few collections (mostly plates though - I'm a dishaholic)!
table1
Obviously these are not “serious” collections that are worth a lot of money. But that doesn’t matter to me. I only collect things which speak to my heart. I would never collect something to use in my home just because it’s the “hot” new collectible this year.
Top
I have to fall in love with something in order to collect it!

Tell me what you collect as I’d love to know and thanks for dropping by today!

I love your S&P shakers! It brought back a childhood memory. My grandmother used to collect S&P shakers and when we would visit, we loved to look at them. She kept them in her china cabinet.

Have a great week. We are suppose to cool down by mid week here into the low 80's.

I have several Daily bread plates to and just love them! I love old dishes with pink roses on them and pin money banks when I can find them in my price range!

Love your pedestal cake plate's new look!

I love your salt and pepper shaker collections. I have one of the large ones. My grandmother used it for cinnamon and sugar. Then the smaller set next to the large ones, I have also. I got those from my mother-in-law. I just love'em!
Have a great week.

Your salt and pepper collection is just too CUTE! I love the way you have them displayed also. It was a perfect makeover for that stand. Hope you are having a great Monday.♥

Hi, Manuela! Stay cool! I collect: vintage sewing patterns, whiteware, sea and coastal themed anything, and friends.

I would never have thought about the whimsy of collecting salt and pepper shakers, but I really love the possibilities! I need to show this post to my mother. She would love it!

And I like the transformation of that pedestal dish as well. The white with red looks perfect in that corner next to the black toile.

One thing I have collected is tins, like the advertising tins and also the tins with flowers and designs. It started when my grandmother was getting rid of the tin my grandpa had hard candy in by his chair. After that I found many more and I have them stored at this time. I think I will find a way to use them in my home soon. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Manuela,...I like your S&P collection and all of your plates and tea pots and other treasures.

I have collected pretty things for many years. It is fun to see the beauty and to remember when you found the tiny treasures!

Have a good day!

Good Morning Manuela! What a lovely collection of 'shakers' and I love what you did to that cake stand..what a difference. I love dishes too...I have a collection of Blue Willow and some pretty cream with small pink flowers plates that I found at antique shops and garage sales. I still don't have my plates on the walls even after a year of being finished the dining room renovations. I guess since I'd have to screw holes in these old plastered walls again I'm taking my time...REALLY. Love your collection of silver tea pots too...very nice. Thanks for reminding me that I still have things do do around here LOL...and have a wonderful Monday. Maura :)

I love the thrill of the hunt, too.

Love the stand and your collection, Manuela! The addition of the red crystals really works well with your decor. I've been thinking of picking up S&P shakers at the thrift store, for when I eventually get around to getting some glitter.

Oh what cute S&P shakers, what a great thing to collect. I used to collect tea cups but haven't in a long time. Love your new look on your blog. You will have to send me the name of the person that did it for you.

I love the table the salt and pepper shakers are on. I kind of collect a few birdhouses and angels. I use to have many collections but lost them in a fire. Love your silver also.

My mother used to collect salt & pepper shakers--I really like yours, I always liked the glass and "silver" ones the best. Like what you did with the little stand, too!

Your blog has changed again...looks great. Your collection looks great on the "new and improved" cake stand.

Love your collections. I too collect S&P shakers and for exactly the same reasons. I keep mine under a cloche. But now I have more than will fit under the cloche. I collect too many things. I too am a dishaholic. And I collect white pitchers and creamers. I have a thing for frames, mirrors & clocks as well. But dishes and pitchers are my biggest collections. Thanks for sharing a few more of your collections. I always enjoy what you share.

I am in love with that cute stand and the shakers on it! So very cute and it looks so much better with what you have done to it! It certainly does make a statement now! Come say hi :D

That's a cute collection and I love the way you display them. I collect little Statues of Liberty. I've always wanted to go to New York. Also Early American stuff esp. anything having to do with presidents. My favorites are Lincoln and Washington. I collected tea cups and tea pots, but they have become too expensive. I also have a lot of vintage plates that I hang on the wall or prop up on a table top or book case. Linda

I have a large collection of dolls..as you know! But I love so many things and buy things I enjoy. I love your salt and pepper shakers and the way you have them displayed! It's so much fun to find something you love! ♥

I love your s&p collection. I don't really go out looking for things to collect, but if I see something that I really like, I will get it. I used to collect cookie jars but now I only have about 25 or so left. I started feeling like my pantry was getting cramped up. I too like dishes and have a collection of picture dishes of states, bridges, etc. Oh well got to go Manuela. My knees are killing me and I have to rub some biofreeze on them. Have a great week and thanks for sharing.

Whenever I go into Goodwill or a thrift shop, I always head first for the dish aisle. :)

I love what you did with the saltshakers. Never thought of that before. I have only one set of silver and glass saltshakers now but I gave Stephanie a couple sets to use for tea parties.

Hmmm... I may have to collect a few more. They are always inexpensive at Goodwill.

I love your silver salt and pepper shakers as well as your silver coffee pots. They're wonderful! I collect silver flatware, silver teapots as well as other small silver pieces. I don't have a large collection, because I don't have a lot of space. It is a lot of fun playing with them, though!

Enjoyed your S&P collection! I collect silver plate/silver teaspoons and butter knives, cake stands, teapots, tea cups, old floral frogs, and of course dishes. I have a collection of Blue Willow that I use daily. I've been thinking about collecting shakers like yours. Like you, I collect what speaks to me at the time. I just know it when I see it.

Good Morning, Manuela..what a lovely little collection..and you did a fine job on the stand..I do pefer it now..though usually not a fan of white per se, you 'tarted' it up perfectly with the red crystals..
Love 'collections' blogs..just started one myself..stop by!

Beautiful collections, Manuela. The S&P shakers are wonderful, and I like the stand you have them displayed on, great makeover!

I've been collecting paperweights. I love colored glass.

I like your display of S&P shakers on the cake plate.

I say that I don't collect stuff, but I think I do. I really like wooden spoons and wooden kitchen gadgets so I have a type of "collection" of those. My collections must be useful, not just dust collectors. I have a nice collection of varied tea cups/saucers that I use when we're having tea parties. That's about it.

What a pretty corner grouping!! I collect "shakers"...generally just one of a kind, but they are all porcelain and hand painted with flowers etc.. I think they are lovely as well. When I see them in a sale, I just can't go off and leave them there all alone :^(
Thank you so much for posting and giving me display ideas!

Your collection is adorable. The S/P collection really look important on your refurbished stand. The plates on the wall are so pretty.

What a wonderful idea, Manuela! I swear you should write a book on frugal ways to decorate. Lately I'm collecting white pitchers of all sizes. Have to have something neutral once in awhile with all this color! It's raining here! So glad I don't have to water today.

Manuela, that is such a darling way to show off your salt and pepper shakers. I love that little corner. It's just beautiful. And what you did with the cake stand is wonderful.

I love your collection of S&P shakers, Manuela! They look really sweet on top of your newly painted cake tray. Also love your new banister in the foyer. It made for a nice upgrade going to wood from the wrought iron spindles. I can't wait til you start work on the harlequin painted stairs in the fall. You are such a wonder of great ideas!
hugs, Sue

My grandmother collected salt and pepper shakers, but they were the souvenir type in shapes of food, states, and such as that. We grandkids loved to look at them, but we sure knew not to touch them!

The only thing I collect are Willow Tree figures. I just have an eclectic mixture of "stuff" in my house!

Oh Manuela I love all your collections! You have a taste so different from others...well like you said what your taste is what you like and no so much what is popular. Funny thing is I have a bunch of those salt/pepper shakers also...I love the silver topped ones so I have been collecting those...also have been collecting lots of the floral frogs. I think those are so cute so now whenever I see them I pick it up.

As always I really enjoying reading your blog!
