My New Loves

top
I don’t know…it’s a sickness I tell ya. I honestly don’t need anymore dishes. I don’t have room for the ones I already have – lots are stored in plastic bins (which is why I redo my china cabinet so often – so I can get them out to enjoy).
teacup
But….I’ve discovered two new china patterns that I heart that seem soooo right for this time of year! Meet my new loves....

harvestime
Harvest Time and Autumn’s Delight. Both by Johnson Brothers. I think there are very few Johnson Bros patterns that I don’t like!
autumn'sdelight
I just love the little details on them.
insidecup
I love when the inside of the cup has a little decorative element and look how pretty the handles are!
sugarhandle
I only have two pieces of one pattern and just one of the other so far. But that’s the fun of collecting – the thrill of the hunt!
pumpkinpie
Yummmmm....Pumpkin pie with....Cool Whip :)  Are you a fresh whipped cream, Cool Whip or Reddi-Whip kind of person? I LOVE Cool Whip. I don't normally go for processed stuff but give me a spoon and I'll eat Cool Whip like ice cream! LOL

Anyway...I think these two patterns mix nicely with each other and I think they’ll look good with the brown transferware I already have.

BTW, check out the photo below....I love it so far!

diningroom
Thank you all so much for the wonderful advice you left in the comments last week. I truly appreciate it. Not to worry, I fully intend on decluttering the walls and shelves, getting rid of some furniture etc before we list the house for sale – but that’s not until March. So I have some time to still enjoy all my stuff! Next week I'll have the re-done dining room (yay one project completely done)!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I love your dishes. My grandmother left me the whole set of Harvest Time when she passed away. I keep them out on display all the time because they are so special and so pretty. Very neat to see yours.

I love the various Johnson Bros., too. They mix and match well so I'm always on the lookout for "orphan" pieces.

I don't think I'd seen those before, something new to look for. :)

I am such a fan of Johnson Brothers patterns. I adore the browns and beautiful colors on these. I have a cup and saucer called Devonshire from Johnson Bros. that would go with these beautifully. I know about buying dishes when you don't need them, lol, I just got a set for free with one of those CSN giveaways. Where will I put it? I'll worry about that later;>)

I think I fall in love with every color of transfer ware there is. Love your drapes, everything is looking pretty!

The pattern of the china ---beautiful. I love the autumn decor and all the colors

I always love your dishware. You are right about changing the dishware every so often and I need to do that. Right now we are just using white plates and it's time to get the other dishes out. Have a great weekend and don't work so hard.

I'm with you - there isn't a Johnson Bros. pattern I don't like. These are fun for this time of the year, and I bet they look good with any transferware color. I'm anxiously awaiting your newest reveal. Sally

Oh, I love those dishes! My sister has a Johnson Bros Christmas set. I've contributed a couple place settings for gifts. I have no idea what her pattern is officially called, but I'm here to tell ya, I wouldn't mind learning more about the Johnson Bros. Love what I've seen so far! -Tammy

I love Johnson Bros. I don't have any yet, but I'm keeping my eyes open! LOL

What a beautiful pattern, Manuela! The name is perfect for it, too. I feel like I saw something either similar or this exact on someone's else blog today {I don't follow it, so I don't recall the name} but she has lots of transferware patterns; lovely woman with wonderful eye candy pictures of her dishes. If I come across her again, I'll come back and let you know who.

I love your dishes. Such a pretty pattern and perfect for this time of year. I'm dish poor...I think I'm addicted! I just bought another 'old' set at a thrift store the other day. I still have to wash them up and have them ready for Thanksgiving. I'll probably have to do a post on them. The only thing that they have written on the bottom is USA. I always love coming to your blog and seeing all of your pretty things and ideas.

Hugs,
Lee Laurie

Manuela, I so agree with you - I've never seen a Johnson Bros. pattern I didn't like, and those two are perfect for Fall. I also agree with you on another point - collecting dishes is a disease, and I have had it for years! Pretty post. laurie

Johnson Brothers has such beautiful patterns and colors. Your browns are gorgeous! :o) Just perfect for fall and oh my does that pumpkin pie look yummy! I bought all the ingredients today to do a little pumpkin pie baking myself. :o) Wish me luck - it is the first time. :o) I love cool whip too, but right now will make do with some redi-whip. :o)
I am so glad you are sharing your walls with us. All my walls are yellow and I would love to bring in more white! :o)
Sincerely - Trish

I LOVE your new dishes! They are perfect for this season. Hope you find more. I have loved Johnson Bros. pieces for many years and often wish I could collect them all. I like what you're doing with your home. Keep up the good work!

Those are very pretty. I try to avoid looking at the dishes when shopping whether it i at TJM, Tues. Morn., etc. I know I will find something I like and I don't have the room.
Enjoy your weekend.

It's looking very good! And I love the pie with the dish...perfect together my friend! ;D

It is a disease. And I have the same disease. Your plates are lovely. It's Fall, we celebrate Fall with Fall dishes!

And, you're right. It is a sickness. I know because I have suffered (enjoyed) it for years!

Have a great weekend!

I love your dishes...they look beautiful with the fall colors and that wonderful pumpkin pie!

I love these, and the name is perfect! I'm ready for pumpkin pie too. I pretty much love anything pumpkin. I got sick eating too much Cool Whip when I was little, and didn't eat it again for years...but I had it on pie tonight, so I finally got over that :-)
Blessings,
Marcia

Hi Manuela, I would never consider all your collections on the walls clutter. They add a charming character to your surroundings. And those Johnson Bros dishes are absolutely perfect for the season and so you. I can see that painting is coming along nicely. The lower white looks fabulous! Pumpkin pie! Yum! I do Cool Whip but only for the holidays. :) Wishing you a wonderful weekend. Tammy

I love the Johnson Bros. dishes...they have some really nice old-fashioned patterns don't they?
Hmmmm..coolwhip for jello, definitely. But it's real homemade whip cream for my pumpkin pie & strawberry shortcake.
Now I'm hungry for pie & it's only 6:30am here ;P

You do have a sickness for dishes but that's okay:) You love them and you use them. I am the same way about cookbooks. Have far to many but wouldn't get rid of any of them.

Laura said...

Those dishes are lovely! The only "good set" that I have are ones my Mother in law bought me a few years back. Well, she actually bought me, and my two sisters in law all the same sets. They really aren't my style at all... :(

Love how the wall turned out! Good work! It looks great. :)

Trust me- you are NOT the only one with the dish buying fetish! I don't know why I am attracted to them over anything else. LOL I just found a new set of blue at a major discount store last week- have never owned a pastel color before- but they just called to me. Since there are just the two of us now, I only bought a set for four. I'm thinking now that I need to go back for more so I can have enough for company. Sheesh....
Anyway, your new patterns of pretties are very appropriate for this time of year. Good luck finding more. Like the new wall color, too and can't wait to see the finished product. :-) Sue

I'm catching the dish bug as well. I love your curtins and tablecloth. Did you make these?

Cindy

Stephanie @ La Dolce Vita said...

My mom and grandmother were dish-addicts too. I think you either have "the bug" or you don't. These are lovely!

If you need a cool whip buddy, I'm your girl. I also can eat right out of the container - and yes, I know how bad it is for me :) That's the reason I have my summer weight and my winter weight only now I've added my menopause weight so this winter will be interesting,,lol.

Erin @ The Little Apartment said...

That Johnson Brothers pattern has been a long-time favorite of mine! It makes me happy. So does whipped cream. Cool whip once in awhile sure, but whip cream... mmm.

Vee said...

Yes, those are wonderful patterns for autumn. I really like them both. And I love how the wainscoting came out...just great.

nannykim said...

Love the dishes. We hope to downsize and how does one decide on just a few sets to keep??? I am going to have one very very hard time!!

Dear Manuela, Oh yes, the white looks wonderful on the bottom, no wonder you love it! Those dishes are so charming and you will have so much fun collecting them. I love Johnson Bros. too. I have 'Old British Castles' in the red like yours in my hutch and I mixed in about eight pieces (creamers) of cranberry glass by Fenton. I think it really makes my dining room. Thank you for all the inspiration Manuela. Hugs, Joyce

I have set I got at a Habitat for Humanity Store a few years ago. I don't have the coffee creamer, or sugar dish, so I've been on the hunt for them over the years. Good Luck on your journey!

Kelly said...

Lovely dishes! I know that dish-loving feeling...I bought two Spode "Blue Room" dishes at an antique store today. (P.S. I love the repainting!)

Manuela,
I love the color theme of your dishes. But I like the pumpkin pie and coolwhip even better.
We have a local Celebrity chef here in San Diego talking about a pumpkin pie with a pecan/honey glaze bottom crust. How yummo!

Hope your weekend is going well.

I heart those dishes too, Manuela! Beautiful. And the pie looks extra delicious sitting on that plate!

Another dish addict right here! I also have no idea where to store them or how to organize them but I love them. I love your fall dishes, they're really nice.

You found two great patterns that look wonderful together. I'm glad to see your renovation is coming along. The white bottom of your DR looks really nice. I'm a fan of yellow, too.

Those new dishes are perfect for Thanksgiving! And so, so perfect for pumkin pie. The transformation on your walls is nice, although I love the yellow.

Oh so lovely dishes Manuela and yummy for the pie.

I hear you on the dish collecting. Funny thing is I never gave them a second thought until I started blogging. Now I have at least eight sets. My goodness what am I thinking? LOL! :)

Kim said...

It's Cool Whip all the way for me. I know that real whipped cream is so much more elegant, but I just love cool whip :)

Debbie said...

It is, indeed, a disease. I love your dishes. Believe it or not, I don't have any really fallish ones. That's so odd because I love autumn the best. You would think that I would have them.

I love both patterns and agree that they will mix so well with brown transferware.

I totally get it. It's china & it's beautiful. I can't resist either.

As for me I love Reddi-whip straight out of the can - just squirt it right in my mouth after the company has left!
