A House in the Roses

pinktop
Hi everyone! It thought I’d share some photos of all the roses I have blooming and give you all an update of what’s happening around here.
rosebed
I think I say this every April but so much is in bloom that I wonder what’s left for the rest of the season!
knockouts
Anyway, the Knockout Roses are in full bloom and are just a wonderful carefree rose (at least for me).
pinkknockout
I was at Home Depot yesterday and saw that they have white ones now. Want one of those!
cottagegardenrose
Believe it or not, but I cut this rose way back in December! Those Knockouts are such nice roses that bloom all year long here in Georgia.
climbingred
This is my very favorite rose.

It was here when we bought the house and I just love it! I wish I knew what it was. I’ve done some research online but can never find one exactly like it. I’m going to take a few clippings and try to start them in some pots.
Iceberg
My Climbing Iceberg. Very pretty but does tend to get blackspot which I just leave alone since my blueberry bushes are planted behind it. Don’t want to get any nasty spray on something we eat! This year I’ve tried spraying it with some liquid seaweed mixed with water and it did better until we got all these crazy spring storms with lots and lots of rain. I’ll spray it again this week as it’s supposed to be dryer.
clematis
My white Clematis (and you can see the blackspot on the Iceberg). Wow the last time this bloomed was about 4 years ago!
purpleclematis
I couldn’t believe this! I planted this almost ten years ago before I planted the roses. I had a nice obelisk I was going to train it up. But it never bloomed so I planted a Knockout rose instead. Every year it would come back but just the leaves. One year my husband thought it was a weed and cut it down! This year it’s got blooms!!! Must be a good year for Clematis. Of course it’s growing underneath the backside of a Knockout so no one is going to be enjoying it but me! But it’s was such a nice surprise to find a bloom and it’s going to be fun to see what it does.

***Now for an update. Well, we’re not sure what we're going to do with the house. The news from the agents hasn’t been what we had hoped to hear. Unfortunately my neighbor to the side of me just listed her house for considerably less than what we had planned to list our house for. She’s moving back to a small town in Texas and says she can make up the difference there since houses are way cheaper.

We,unfortunately, had planned to move into the city and prices are much higher than here and we need to make money not just break even (and definitely not lose money). So we’re considering renting it out, or listing it and actively trying to find a developer (you could build 3 or 4 houses on our property the way they stack them so close these days), or listing & hoping someone comes along that would be willing to pay more and has the cash. We sort of knew it would all be a long shot but you don’t know till you try. So we have to decide what to do. I’m still plugging away at all my projects since they’re things I wanted to do anyway – so no harm done. Anyway, I’ll let you all know what we decide to do.

            Happy Earth Day!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful flowers.
Hope you get things worked out to your advantage on the house. I sure would not want to be trying to sell one here right now.
Happy Easter.
Enjoy your weekend.

Your roses are gorgeous! I know you were thrilled to find that Clematis bloom hiding among the rose blooms.

You're in a touch position with your house. I hope that it will sell if you do decide to list it.

Love Roses! I have knock-outs too and it is amazing how long they bloom! I don't have white ones either but might just have to buy some of those!

I hope it all works out with the house! I always believe "whatever will be, will be"!

Have a blessed Easter, HUGS!

Your roses are stunning. They are my favorite flower. Hope you can come up with a perfect solution to selling your home. Our's sold in 6 weeks. We are so happy because it's an hour away from a city. Glad to see you post again, you've been missed. Hugs

Your roses are a sight for these winter weary eyes. Things are just beginning to bloom around here but we won't have roses for a while yet.

Real Estate is tricky business. I do hope you get to make the move you would like to do...and that you get an excellent price.

You've certainly put a lot into your home. It is beautiful.

So sad to think of your pretty garden being bulldozed for sardine-tin sized micro-housing..too much of that going around, and I just don't understand who the developers think they are going to sell it to..
I hope, for you, that things work out..it's hard sometimes to feel as resilient as your roses...

Your garden is lovely...those roses...hmmm. Sounds as if it's a connundrum about what to do. I think it is for nearly everyone in the market. One would buy if one could sell. All the very best...

Your roses are gorgeous, Manuela! I can't wait until mine bloom {and my clematis, too}! Things are not good here either. Hardly any showings and we have another open house May 1st. Our agent wants us to do the price range thing they do now, but I don't like that idea. I mean who's going to offer the higher end of the spectrum when you do that?

I wish I could have such beautiful roses, I have too many trees around to get much sun and we had to put the garden in the one spot that DOES get sunshine.

Yes, my daughter and her hubby ended up selling their house for what they paid for it last year (after seven years of living there!).

However, they bought a house in the same town which had lost $100,000 in value at the same time so they figured they came out even.

We didn't have quite the drop in the Midwest but our house went down in value a few thousand.

Praying for you!

I'm going to ask for some knockout roses when the landscaper comes next week. Yours are just gorgeous, Manuela! I wish you lots of luck in your house endeavor. Times are tough for the housing market, these days. Have a Happy Easter with your family! ~ Sue

Haven't the roses just been wonderful this year?! Mine are blooming so hard I can't imagine how they might bloom any more this year. And it's the same everywhere I go.

The Mexican Restaurant we ate at yesterday had knockouts for what appeared to be a great price. 1/2 gallons were $6 and gallons were $8

I am sure your home will sell Manuela, and I'll keep your need for a new home in prayer.

I would not want to move and leave all those beauties behind. When we move from out place in VT it was so hard to leave behind the gardens. Some of those flowers had been coming up for more than twenty years. Nothing has been done with the land since we moved and so it had all become overgrown. I try to avoid going back there to see it.

Hope you are able to make a good decision about your move.

Yay! So nice to see a post from you. I had wondered how things were going. I just love the roses. Everything is so beautiful.

I'm bummed for you about the neighbor and the house price. It's amazing how that can affect others.

I hope the other two ideas pan out. I do know what you mean about the way they stack them in Atlanta. They could probably built three on my MIL's lot too.

Continued wishes for the sale that you really need and want, Manuela.
Who says the right buyer can't walk up, fall in love with the house in the roses, and plopped down the needed price?!

Your roses are gorgeous! That is something I do not have.

My clematis is going CRAZY and has blooms all over it! Way more than last year.

I'll be praying for you and the decisions you all have to make!

The roses and the house are just lovely Manuela! Good luck with the sale vs. rent decision...always a hard one. My computer's track pad broke and I couldn't move my curser! I'm using a mouse for now but it's still acting wonky...the curser starts shaking wildly on its own...no one touching it! Good news is that I verified that the warranty is good for three years as opposed to the two I had believed...so it just may be fixed very soon! Sending good thoughts and happy good luck to you and your family as you go through this adventure my kind friend. I'll be back as the computer allows.
Love and hugs,
Tracey

I hope you guys can get some good news on selling your home soon. I know that it can be so frustrating! Your roses are beautiful. Despite all of the storms and rain, it has been a beautiful spring in the flower gardens.

Hoping all is well with you, besides the house issue.
