I thought I'd show you some places where I've either used a wall decal or where I've painted sayings onto the wall. This is in our master bathroom and it's what you see when you step out of the shower. A reminder to "Seize the Day". I painted it the same way I did on this sign.
I painted this a year ago above a chalkboard I painted. We have family movie night every Friday. So this is where I list our "coming attraction". It's the first time I painted lettering on a wall so it's a bit messy!
"There's no place like home". This is a wall decal that I cut up and put on the risers of my stairs. It's been there for over two years now and I think it's time to do something different. I may paint a design on the risers. Another project on my "want to do" list!
This is in my guest bedroom "Sweet Dreams". That frame was originally dark brown. I got it brand new (it still had the hanging hook in a bag on it) from the...where else...Thriftstore! I spray painted it white. I think I might change the saying to "Be Our Guest". It was hard to work with white paint and it started to turn gray on the bottom because it mixed with the artists charcoal I used to transfer the words - something to remember! It would probably have been better to use white crayon to do that transfer. It's not my favorite. Maybe a different color for the lettering?
This is a wall decal. They're everywhere now! You used to only be able to get them online and through catalogs. Now everyone - Target, Hobby Lobby, Linens N Things etc, they all have them. Although the selection online is much much better!
Speaking of decals...Target had some on clearance last week and I bought one of these for me and one for you! Only I had to return mine as I couldn't find an appropriate wall that could handle the size. The lettering is about 6 1/2 x 38 1/2 and there are two decals. So if you'd like to be entered into a drawing for this "Welcome Friends" decal just say so in your comment. You have to say that you want it to be entered because I'm sure there are people that don't have the space for it or maybe it's not their style. There's no use giving it to someone who won't be able to use it. As always, you don't have to have a blog just an email addy. I'll announce the winner on my Friday post. Let's say midnight PST on Thursday is the cut off. Just my way of sharing a good deal with you and saying thank you all for being such wonderful blog friends!

I want it, thanks :) Love it on the steps...
I would love to be entered! I like how you've used all the word. I'm afraid my hands would be too shaky to use paint...but a decal, that would be great. I will have to go to Target when we go to civilization again!
Thanks! :-) Rosie
Please enter me as well...because I want it, want it, want it!!!
I live wall words/quotes and I like how you've used them throughout your home.
Please stop by my blog, I posted about a giveaway yesterday that runs through Monday.
Have a wonderful Wednesday,
Tam
Please enter my name for the drawing. I've been looking at many pictures with these decals and love them. I bought some for my daughter and son-in-law for their new house but never for me. How wonderful and how creative you continue to be!
Enter me, too, please!
I love the word signs. I put quotes on my walls when I moved into this house 6 years ago, but I had to hand letter them since I couldn't find anyone who was making them. I did find a stencil company and have one over the bed in my guest room. Maybe you have inspired a post for me!
Those look great. I have only one wall saying in my house right now. I have a wall that I am filling with our family portraits and it says "All because two people fell in Love" I have our wedding picture and then family pictures and kids through the years. I love it and have received several compliments. I've always wanted to put the Dorothy quote up also. We just bought this house so when I redo the room it's going to be in I'll get it done. THanks for a fun post!
Jennifer
I love your stairs they way they are, but can't wait to see what you do with them next.
I would love to be entered into the drawing. I know just the place to put that sign.
I don't think I have the wall space but I wanted to say that I love the idea!
I would love to have this stencil. This post caught my eye because our pastor's title to his sermon sunday was Carpe Diem. Actually, that is the title of the sermon series, (the next three weeks are on the same subject.) If you would like to hear it go to my sidebar and click on my churchs logo, then into archives, Feb. 8.
I have the perfect place for this Welcome Friends stencil.
I'd like to have some wall sayings, but I have no space in my house! But maybe you gave me some ideas for small corners I can find.
Manuela
I would love to have it also. I really glean so much from your site. your home is always so lovely.
Sibyl
I'm in, please Manuela!
I love these things!
I love to see the writing on the wall :-)....You have some great ones! Please don't enter me,,,,I don't have a wall big enough.
Hugs,
Penny
I'd love to win the decal! I am trying to decide whether to try the hand-painted lettering on our walls. We live in Austin, TX and ALL of our walls are textured. I grew up in VA and the walls were smooth...it would be much easier if my walls were smooth! ;)
I would love to be entered:) My kids laugh at me because I have so many sayings and words up. Why not add more?
count me in, I know just where
to put it! rreed1143@charter.net
Hi Manuela -
All of your lettering looks wonderful. I love that idea of movie night and posting the coming attractions - what a wonderful thing to do every week together!
I would love to be entered for the giveaway! I have a spot in my kitchen eating area that is screaming for something like that.
Thanks so much!!!
Jem

Please enter me in your drawing!! What a fabulous prize. I have painted some signs (inspired by you) and when I do white writing I use white transfer paper that I got at Michaels. It is only a couple of dollars, but it lasts for a long, long time. I love your wall writing!

Yes, I want it! And I love the way you did the stairs just the way they are. Perhaps, if you are bored with them, you could add some more designs on the other risers to coordinate with the lettering?
Oh, you probably saw my new wall words I just put up. Love them! And I think I could find a place for this one too. Great giveaway!
I've always wanted lettering on my wall! Please enter me too.
I love the "now playing". My husband and I have movie night in his little theater room every Friday as well.
Also, I love the stairs! They are beautiful.
Off the subject, do you know of anything natural to use for ants in a garden area? Since you garden and live in GA too, I thought you might have some ideas!
Please enter me! I love the idea for your stairs, and can't wait to see the next one! Our stairs are our next big huge project -- they are the one thing in the house that hasn't been touched yet!

I love all of your writing on the walls--and on the stairs. What perfect sentiments you have expresed! I like the "Sweet Dreams" in the guestroom. As always, I would change a thing in your home. I wish I had wall space for words, but my walls are already overcrowded with pictures. laurie
