Thrift Score!

Hello everyone! I thought I'd share a few of the things I've gotten at the thriftstore in the past two weeks and I went to two yardsales last weekend (because they were on my street and I was driving by anyway).

I found this tray at my local Goodwill for $3.13! My husband says that I don't find these trays, they find me LOL! This one has a dark green border whereas all the others I've found have a black border. But I think it goes well with the other lemon tray in my kitchen don't ya think?

At the garage sales I found this modern chrome light for my husband's office/the family room (which you know I'm redoing in a more modern look). $7 and it really looks brand new.

I've been looking for a magazine rack for a few months now but all I've seen at the thriftstore are the solid wooden ones and I wanted something a bit different. This was $3 at one of the yardsales and it's perfect. I don't even have to paint it!

Most of you know that I'm collecting all sorts of mirrors to do the tall wall in my foyer. I found this pretty one at Goodwill. I just need to paint it black. So when I turned it over it said Bombay Company!

I thought they went out of business years ago?

Somethings I DID NOT buy....

These beautiful red vintage flocked drapes. OMG I love these! I just don't have anyplace to put them!

They also had this cute pair in an ivy pattern.

Look at this cute red rooster toile cup! I would have gotten this cup if there had been at least two. But sadly, there was only this one.

A green vintage Burlington picnic basket. I don't know. Should I have gotten it? I saw a reddish one here last week. I probably should have gotten that one and this one? My problem is that I just don't have space for all these things! Although I suppose this would be good for storage.
How about a vintage gun case?

Or two bar stools?

A beautiful brass headboard and footboard?

I was thinking about this tree hall last night in bed! I might go have another look at it. I think it's narrow enough to fit in my tiny foyer and I think it would look great painted. Then again, I don't need it....Do you do this too? Drive yourself crazy going back and forth - should you, shouldn't you!! If I'm lucky it'll be gone and then I won't have to think about it LOL!

Our relatives leave on Sunday so things should be back to normal next week! Thanks for stopping by to see my thrifty treasures and have a fabulous weekend!

After reading this, I feel better about my own acquisitiveness...all the volunteer ladies at the thrift store know me by sight now..
I think you did very well, and that dark tray is just wonderful-I would have definitely snapped it up!

You find great stuff! I would say Yes to the picnic basket and the hall tree :)

OK, you simply must return to the thrift store and snag those ivy covered drapes for me... purty please?

And I have a picnic basket almost identical to the one pictured... I use it to house my "important papers" (really just odds and ends I can't bear to part with... just yet anyway;))

Thanks so much for sharing- it was almost like going shopping myself, except without the expense!

Love the double fun ... First, so enjoyed the shopping trip with you, and second -- with all the really fun comments, almost like a bunch of us gal-friends went shopping together. And of course, it's ALWAYS the gal-friends who encourage us to go back and get those "things that got away" ... hee hee!
Have a super fun weekend!

No way! I HAVE that picnic basket(in green)! It was given to me by an older woman who was moving and getting rid of lots of things. I haven't used it yet as picnics in the desert haven't appealed much to us yet!

I LOVE the mirror and the magazine rack.

I'll bet someone was just holding on to that mirror and never found a place of it. I can think of several places I would put it.

Oh Manuela, you really DID score! Yes, I think your lemon tray looks great with your other lemon tray! What a deal on that lamp!! Your GW store looks like such a great place to shop. I'm so jealous that you have such a good GW store. I store magazines in old picnic baskets, so I would probably have grabbed both the red and the green one! I don't have the luxury of trying to decide whether to buy something. Everything I find is at least an hour away from my home, so getting back to buy it isn't so easy. I know you could make that hall tree look fabulous! laurie

i love all your finds! i would get the picnic baskets...i pick them up every time i find one. i love the way they look stacked. and they are wonderful to store all sorts of things. i would have a terrible passing up those red curtains...

I do the same thing - procrastinating about buying something, then hope it's gone so I don't have to think about it any longer. Would you mind sharing your source for the bottle-brush trees in the bag? I've checked out Hobby Lobby, Target, and Wal-mart with no luck. Michaels is a 100 mile round trip so that has to be a special trip. I so want to try bleaching the trees. Any info you can share would be appreciated. Sally

Great buys!

Your goodwill totally rocks compared to mine. We never find anything good there and when we do, it is overpriced. I'm looking forward to Garage Sale Season starting back up again.

I do the same thing in that I sit there and think about do I need this, where would I put it, etc.

I got a wooden cabinet with baskets and it's still sitting in my basement as I have no idea where to put it!

I love the metal tray. I picked one up too a few months ago. Last week I found a set of red toile bed sheets. I wanted to buy them so bad because they were so pretty, but I just painted my bedroom from red to taupe. Where were they when my room was red?

Another round of great finds! That picnic basket would have had to come home with me!

Ok, I have to admit...I am not a real big thrift store shopper!! But let me tell you, after seeing all the neat stuff you just got I will be checking the ones around here out!! Have a great day and thanks for sharing!!!

Oh my goodness! I have the same problem. I want all this good stuff but I've nowhere to put it. So, I have to be content knowing that some other person will come along and give it a good home.
I wouldn't have been able to pass up the vintage gun case though.

and what Goodwill would this be? Certainly not ours! I would have taken the barstools, the drapes, and the picnic basket. I am wanting to use red in my bedroom, those would have been perfect. The picnic basket would have been great storage in the laundry room, and the barstools would have been great when I put in the new countertop w/ bar. Beautiful little tray, and we need your GW here. Have a blessed Thanksgiving. Jackie

Great Finds. You have the best goodwill. I love those drapes and the lemon tole tray. I do the same thing...where will I put it? NO, I don't need it so I put it back and then I'm kicking myself. I ran across a chandy at a yardsale for 5.00 bucks and I am kicking myself...just because I did not have a place for it..I am such a dummy!!
