What To Do With Those Plastic Eggs
Hi everyone! Thanks for all comments and support on my last post. It’s obviously a hot topic as I’ve gotten quite a few emails as well.
I thought I’d show you what I did with some of those inexpensive plastic Easter eggs.
I used some color coding labels that we had to make polka dot ones to hang off my branches in my foyer. This is the size of dots we happened to have but I’m sure the bigger ones would look cute as well. I put a dot of hot glue on the top and attached a bit of raffia to hang them from, but ribbon would be so much cuter.
This is the last hurrah for those branches! They have served me well don’t you think ~smile. I didn’t want to get rid of my paper flowers just yet, so I stuck them in the bottom of the pot. Makes for a very colorful display!
Now that it’s getting warmer, I’ll finally be able to paint this hall tree. Right now I’m leaning toward red.
The other thing I did with them was to decopauge them with some wrapping paper.
I’ve used tissue paper before but the thicker wrapping paper was much easier to work with. It’s messy – be prepared to have glue all over your hands! This was some houndstooth paper that I got from Hobby Lobby a while a go. I used my little crystal glasses from Goodwill as the egg cups.
Easter eggs can have a bit of sophistication to them. They don’t all have to be colorful and child-like.
These are ones I did last year with black toile tissue paper. I also did some with red toile tissue paper (one is in my china cabinet in my first Easter decorating post).
Below is my favorite toile bunny!
I enjoy adding some seasonal decorations to my regular stuff. I think it helps make each holiday a little more special. The best time to buy holiday decor is after the holiday! So next week I’ll be stopping in at Pier 1, Cost Plus etc to see what they’ve clearanced. It’ll be a great time to pick up nests which you can use all year round.
Thursday starts a new month and that means book giveaway time! I’ve picked out a really good vegetable gardening book for you guys. So see you all then!

Oh yes, great idea, Manuela ~ I'll have to check out clearance sales for the nests and eggs. I've been keeping mine out all year as nature inspired pieces, not so much for Easter. I love all the different eggs you've done ~ especially the ones with the toile tissue.
Great ideas! Only you could make little plastic eggs chic!
Totally adorable, just like you, sweet friend! Happy Easter!
Lovely Easter decorating! Those eggs are really sweet! And I LOVE the bunny! Have a beautiful Easter!
Blessings,
Sandi
Manuela,
Thanks for the wonderful Easter ideas! I am off to the Office Max to buy some round labels my grand daughters can help me with this week. We have 5 grand children staying with us this week under the age of 10.
I so related to your last blog and it was as if you took the words right out of my heart. Life has been passing me by as I have felt the NEED to post. The anxiety is so real and I do want to answer all the comments too. Thanks.
Right now I am feeling over whelmed and numb...visiting and reading other's posts is my speed. I am so glad I came to visit you today. I hope your Easter is a joyous one!
~♥
Such good ideas. I never thought of covering my plastic eggs. So much more sophisticated looking at no cost. How do you come up with all this ideas?
Hope you have a Happy Easter
Manuela -- as usual -- brilliant and beautiful! I really do like the decopaged eggs. I think I will have to give that a try next year. I've got too much sewing to finish up right now. And the dots on the plastic eggs just might be a good activity for my grandchildren on Saturday. I'll be checking back for the giveaway.
What fabulous ideas Manuela, love the toile eggs and bunny.
Great idea! I'm a polka dot girl myself. ;-)
I'm so loving these ideas..I actually had my Easter Eggs out today too..with 5 wee ones hunting for them,LOL. Each day this week I am giving the daycare children Easter bags and having them 'hide' in the kitchen/laundry room while I 'hide' (in plain view for them to find, lol) these plastic Easter Eggs..I like the dot look..This would be fun to do with the children also. Great for pincer grasp learning...
Love it!
Manuela, I am in shock...the polka dot egg tree is about the cutest thing I ever saw! And those black & white ckecked eggs in footed glass - adorable! Linda

Too cute. I'll have to save this idea. I've been wanting to make the tissue paper flowers but haven't done it yet. I procrastinate a lot with this kind of thing. Love the black and white. Linda
Hi Manuela, great Easter crafts! It's all very pretty and very you. I somehow missed your previous post...probably because I was sick for a few weeks and didnt spend much time looking at other blogs. I can so relate! Kudos to you for recognizing the issue and deciding to keep it real.
Have a great Easter with your family!
There you go again, with more great ideas! Love them!!
I did the same thing over the weekend. Decoupaged some wooden goose eggs I had. I want to decorate them, but am a little unsure how to. Yours are so elegant! You just have the best ideas!

The plastic eggs are so incredible! What a simple idea!
You sure do have a gift for coming up with creative decorating ideas. I love the tree with the polka dot eggs.
I love them all, but the black and white gingham are my favorites! What fun.
I love what you do with all of the eggs. I adore the houndstooth eggs! They are super cute! Your toile eggs are lovely as well as the toile bunny. It all looks wonderful. I have a hall tree something like yours. I am interested in seeing what you do with yours, I'm thinking I would like to paint mine white, maybe. Not sure. Hugs, Cindy S.
lovely black and white decor. great ideas for the eggs.
Charming eggs- the polka dots are such a cute idea!
What a sweet and simple idea with the color dots. Even a child could help with that project. of course, my boys are older and think they are beyond all that. My plastic eggs are waiting right now to be decoupaged with music paper and prettified with bits and pieces of this and that. Thanks always for the lovely inspiration. Wishing you a most wonderful Wednesday. Many blessings, Tammy
Your branches have looked adorable in every season! I just love the black and white houndstooth eggs, I always think of pastels this time of year, but those look so grown up and elegant. Great idea:>)
As always ... love your posts! So inspiring! :)
I love the hounds-tooth eggs. Fabulous!!! But the polk a dot eggs are cute. But my favorite are the toile ones from last year. And I love, love, love your toile bunny. I still love toile.

I love the black and white check and the toile eggs! I have an Easter tree too, but I just have bought ornaments on it. I used to use dogwood branches I had painted white, but they got crushed in a move and now we live where there are no dogwoods. So I bought a pretty cream colored iron tree that is just lovely.
Could I ask where you live? I'm from Powder Springs, GA, myself. I'm just curious. If you'd like you can send me a contact e-mail through my blog and let me know.
Blessings!
Kay
oh my!! I love the little hounds tooth check eggs. Oh so cute.
The polka dots are cute too. I wonder if we could do that this year instead of dying eggs. : )
The last picture is a delight for the eyes.
