April Book Giveaway!

Statue
Hi everyone! It’s time to start thinking about vegetable gardens and I have the perfect book to help you with that task. “Small-Plot, High-Yield Gardening” by Sal Gilbertie and Larry Sheehan.

bookcover
He even gives you plans for a 10x10 sandbox garden! There are other plans for different size gardens,  which can give you an idea of how to layout a vegetable garden even if you don't do it exactly the way he has it. There’s also chapters on how to make compost, companion planting and lots of good general info. There's a section on growing veggies in containers if you live someplace without out a yard or you're renting a house.  So it's a book for anyone with an interest in growing their own veg. Plus, it’s a pretty fun read!

backofbook
Just leave a comment if you’d like to be entered in the drawing. That's all! Anyone can enter including all of you outside of the US. I’ll leave this post up through the weekend and announce the winner Monday morning.

Thanks for dropping by!

This sounds like a neat book! I'm in the process of going organic, and we are going to plant a garden this year. Perfect timing!

I would love this book! I'm actually converting a sandbox to a strawberry patch this spring, and adding another raised bed so I could use the ideas!

Enter me too Manuela. I would love to win this book. Thanks

I love that top photo. I want to look at stuff like that when I look out the back windows. This is my 3rd garden. I did 2 raised beds the first yr and had great success. Last yr we added two more beds and everything but the tomatoes and peppers were destroyed. Hoping for a good year this year. I would love the book.

Looks like my kind of gardening! Small plots are better in my tiny yard. Maybe I'll venture beyond just tomatoes this year.

Hi Manuela--

I would love to win this book. One of my "retirement" plans is to have a vegetable box garden. My soil is nothing but sand so that is the only way to grow vegies here. I'm going to build it this summmer--we do fall gardens--too hot for most vegies in the summer.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful Easter weekend.

Stephanie @ La Dolce Vita said...

I love your garden photo! This would be a great win too - I need to try container gardening as the one thing we don't have here are large lots. Thanks for the chance to win.
Have a great weekend!

Happy Easter, Manuella! I just read your post down there about blogging & YES, I know exactly what you are saying, since I've written some very similar posts myself. It does get so overwhelming, this blog thing. I know I spend too much time at it, but I still really enjoy it & don't have kids at home, so it works for me. I did decide that I was going to post less often, but seem to have too much stuff to share & post about 5 or 6 times a week still. But, if I do run out of things to share, I'm not going to feel bad about backing off that schedule.

We all have to do what works for our families & blogging is such a new thing it's hard to keep it balanced at times. I think ALL bloggers struggle with this if they are trying to keep up with it all. Blog posts and commenting & party hopping, it all takes SO much time. There are TONS of linky parties out there now & just that is hard to keep up with.

Hugs to you! I know you'll get a balance that is right for you.
