A Home in the Roses

Hi everyone! I thought I’d share a few photos of the roses that are in bloom right now.
GJ
This is a Climbing Cecile Brunner Rose growing on the side of my barn (which is actually a barn shaped storage unit but I like to call it a barn). I’m a farm girl at heart! This is a vigorous climber!
Closeup
It’s such a beautiful rose. It will get some other blooms throughout the summer but not as many as in the spring. It also has a beautiful scent!
Don Juan
This is a Don Juan. It has HUGE flowers this year! It must have really liked all the rain we got the past fall and winter. This is a great Southern Rose. It’s a climber but supposedly doesn’t grow more than 10 ft. which makes it great for columns. Which is where I have mine growing.
Iceberg1
This is a climbing Iceberg. That’s a white Clematis on the right hand side – it’s a fussy plant. It had a few blooms this year. Usually I don’t get anything but I like look of the green leaves. So it can stay LOL!
iceberg
A closeup of the Iceberg. This rose is in my White Garden – everything that blooms in this bed is a shade of white.
SavannahRose
This is a Savannah Rose. I had to have this one because my daughter’s name is Savanna! It’s really not a prolific bloomer at all but the few blossoms it does get are really pretty.
pink
This is a pink Knockout that I planted last year. They grow pretty quickly!
Red&Yellow
I don’t remember the name of this rose But I love it because it’s red with a yellow center.
RYCloseup
My favorite color combination!

GarageRose
This is my very favorite rose and was the only one that was here when we bought this house. All the other’s I’ve planted. If anyone knows the name of this rose please let me know. I’d love to plant more. It only blooms in the spring but it’s incredibly beautiful!
GR2
It has multi-flowers on a stem! So each stem is like a little bouquet!

I actually have a few more roses but I’ll save them for another time. BTW I don't use any chemical sprays on my roses. I grow mostly shrub roses & climbers that don't have too many problems with pests or black spot. I don't expect florist perfect roses in my yard.

The hydrangeas are getting ready to bloom too! So I'll have photos of them soon.  Hydranges and roses are my favorite flowers!

Thank you for stopping by and all you Mom’s out there – I Hope You Have a Wonderful Mother’s Day!

Very gorgeous!

I love the reds. Pinks and whites are beautiful too, but nothing can top a lovely red rose.

Manuela, all your roses look beautiful. I don't have any climbing roses, but I love them. The Savannah is a particularly beautiful rose.

Manuela, I love all your roses. I used to live in Washington state and had over 25 different roses in my yard, most were there when we bought, but anyway I miss all the roses and visiting the rose garden in Portland Oregon several times a year. Seeing your beautiful roses helps a little. Smiles, Marla

Oh so very beautiful! I love roses and especially any climbers. I haven't really tried many other types yet. I did purchase 2 floribundas last evening. I have a neighbor who has inspired me to plant more roses and now your pictures have put the icing on the cake!!!

Gotta get those babies planted!!! This could be the start of a new habit!

So beautiful. I love roses-but they do not do well here on the beach. You have a beautiful garden and an amazing green thumb.

Have a great weekend-

gorgeous roses! I'm finally adding some color to our yard now that we have all the veggie beds established. I just bought a potted gardenia for my front porch and the smell is heavenly. Now I'm just waiting on the bees.

Don Juan! THAT's the name of the one that I have. Thanks, I didn't know.

Is that cluster one the type that they call the "seven sisters"? It looks like it, but I am obviously no rose bush expert.

Yours are simply beautiful to me. I would love to walk in your garden.

So pretty! I bought a yellow climber yesterday that will go on our porch front left since the ice destroyed my holly. To be honest, I have hungered for a yellow rose ever since I bought this place, but hadn't had the time to plant one.

I read somewhere (Tasha Tudor?) that clemantis liked to be left alone, near a rock, facing northeast. I have done that and mine actually started blooming! You might consider the change...

Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions said...

Very pretty, Manuela! My roses have not bloomed yet {soon though} and I have some clematis, too. One is purple and blooms through one of my climbing roses. I also have a white one on my gazebo. They seem to bloom at the same time and it looks so pretty. I don't baby mine at all, although I do have some weeding to do around them this weekend!

Julie said...

Okay..Your photos are absolutely making me resolve that I MUST plant some of those in my yard. My hubby isn't fond of them because of the thorns and the way they can get out of hand with their climbing so I will have to be very precise about where I place them, that they don't reach out and grab him!!!! Beautiful, Manuela...wish I could come and tour your yard for inspiration, and the scents, but I will be content with the photo tours... Hugs to you!

Could your un-named rose be a 'Blaze'. It looks like a climber that I have. I love all of your climbers. Here in Colorado the climbers usually get such a late start that they only bloom once. But, we're trying a 'Don Juan' new this year hoping for all summer bloom. Enjoy your weekend. Sally

I wish we could grow roses like that up here. Even the climbers never get over 6-8 feet tall, winters are just too hard on them. Love the ruffly Savannah.

What a lovely and varied garden you have...
My memories of Cecil Bruners are strong..my step-grandparents had an amzing building-side full of them; I can remember walking up the drive to be hit by that lovely scent, and the honeybees tumbling almost drunkenly from flower to flower, so full of pollen they could hardly fly...thanks for reminding me..

Hi Manuela -
Your roses are gorgeous, possibly my most favorite flower. I miss the roses that I had at the old house. The new house has absolutely nothing, no flowers, bushes, shrubs....nothing, just grass and trees. I love hydreangas also and I want to plant a couple on either side of the front. Have a great day!

Your roses are gorgeous! I too love hydrangeas and roses. I have several bushes that didn't bloom last year (although they have done quite well in the past) I'm hoping they'll do better this year. I'm planning to plant some knockout roses with them. Have you seen the Rainbow Knockouts? They're a wonderful combination of yellow and pink.
