RIP My Computer !!

Hello everyone!

My computer is dead! Just won't turn on. It's at the computer shop. Aaaack - it's only 3 years old! I don't have much hope for it because this is the exact same thing that happened to the last one. Let's hope they're able to save my pictures and my Quicken (can I tell you how it's freaking me out not being able to download my checking info everyday).

Anyway, in the mean time I'm using my daughter's desktop. I won't have a new post again until next week. I'm going to repeat some from the past since there seem to be some new readers and maybe some of you who have been with me for a while enjoy them again. Hopefully by next week I'll either have my fixed computer, a new computer or figured something else out.

But at least I'll have plenty of time to catch up with everyone!

Oh, Manuela, I'm so sorry. It seems like computers are almost disposable these days. I guess it shouldn't be surprising that they don't last any longer than a few years, because we do use them an awful lot--probably more than any other appliance, huh?

I do hope they'll be able to save your photos and your Quicken for you. I've never gotten into the habit of using Quicken; I think it would be a good idea for me. If you were starting over, is Quicken the product you'd choose? There are so many budget-type programs out there.

Take care!

I'm sorry to hear about your computer. I'm still fairly new to all of this technical stuff. Is there anyway to save your blog to a cd or something just incase? I would like to save mine somewhere incase my computer ever crashes.

Thanks for the sweet comments about my living room. It is still a work in progress but I'm getting there. My little house is very old and I'm having to do a lot more work than I thought I would have to do. (It doesn't have much insulation at all) I will be working on that and hopefully changing out some windows in the next month or so. It will be getting cold soon.

Hugs,
Lee Laurie

Sorry about your computer, that is always a nasty surprise, and we all count on them so much! I hope it can be fixed, I'm sure your info will be saved. We had the same thing happen and our Brother in law retreived everything. Hope to see you with a new one soon! I'm afriad I'll go through POH withdrawal!

I think computers have designed obsolescence. I'll enjoy reading some of your past posts. I often reread them anyway, I enjoy your decorating so much!

I feel your pain. This has happened to us twice. The best $100 we ever spent was the Geek Plan at Best Buy. They have repaired it twice for free. We did lose our pictures. They have advised us to buy an external hard drive to save pictures on but we haven't done it yet. I hope they can resurrect yours.

Manuela,

This has to be so frustrating. Mine has been acting up lately and I am concerned. Thankfully Warren has everything networked and backed up. I wouldn't have a clue if it weren't for him.

Hoping that they can bring your computer back to life.

That's too bad, Manuela. These things always seem to happen when you don't need them to happen.

I mentioned you in my most recent post, btw. Thanks to you, I spent some money at Kmart online yesterday!

Sorry to hear about your computer problems. It seems too new to be dead, but things don't seem to last as long as they once did. I hope it won't be long until you are back in business.

Oh no! I'm so sorry about your computer Manuela! I've had that happen to me twice. My suggestion is that if you have to get another computer, buy an apple. It's unable to get viruses :)

Manuela, sorry to hear about your computers. As for the photos, remember that any photos that you upload to Blogger automatically revert to Picassa and are stored on there. Check Picassa and see if they are. Take care.

I am sorry about your computer. Place a bouquet of flowers on it for me.

I hope they can save your photos. I would be the one with the flowers on it if I lost my photos!

Thank you for the nice comments you left on my blog about my Halloween decor. Hope you get a computer up and running within the week...

Good luck, Manuela. Mine crashed this summer; I got almost everything back when the geek squad overhauled it. I think it was about $300 (mine was 2 or 3 years old), and I figured it was cheaper than a new computer. Four months later, still good!

Sorry to hear about your computer, that stinks! I lost mine a few months back too. You don't realize how much you rely on it until it's gone.
