How To Make A Coffee Filter Wreath
Hi everyone! I had quite a lot of people ask me how I made the coffee filter wreath when I showed the one below which is in my dining room as part of my Easter decorations.
So I thought I’d do a quick tutorial on it.
Unfortunately I didn’t take photos at the time I made this one because I thought it was old news and y’all had already seen how to make one. But I guess I was wrong!
Anyway, I didn’t have a wreath form when I made the one in the dining room. So I took a piece of posterboard and traced around a big plate for the outside and then a smaller plate for the inside so I had a big donut. That’s what I used for that one.
I made one recently for my livingroom and it’s a rectangle. I still didn’t have a wreath form so I used a piece of foam core and cut out a rectangle shaped donut this time. Or you can go to the dollar store and get yourself a $1 Styrofoam wreath.
As you can see you need coffee filters. They come in natural (brown) and white. The fun thing about coffee filters is that you can dye them any color you want. I started to dye some red and then decided to go with white.
All you do is take a filter and make a rosette by scrunching the filter from the center and then you hot glue it all around your form. Have your glue gun on low because those filters are thin and you will burn yourself if it’s on high! Ask me how I know LOL!
I start on the inside and go all the way around and then work on the outside and then fill in as needed. I put the “flowers” close together.
When I was done I glued some ribbon onto the back and hung it off my china cabinet door.
I made the bow separately and hot glued it to the ribbon.
Isn’t that easy! It’s a bit monotonous making those rosettes so watch a movie or something while you’re doing it. Also I don’t feel the edges need anything to finish them as the rosettes cover both the inside and outside edges.
I think it looks like a wreath made of carnations.
I hope you try it! You can get coffee filters at the dollar store and you can use posterboard if you want or repurpose a cereal box etc if you don't have a wreath form. So it’s a really inexpensive project to do but doesn’t look cheap!

WOW! I'm new to your blog and love it! I love this wreath too and think I'm gonna go get some coffee filters!
You are TOO creative! I would never have guessed coffee filters - it looks quite Martha-y if you'll forgive the comparison, I mean it in a good way.
This is too cute!! I am going to make one or two on the next rainy day!!
Manuela, beautiful coffee filters! :) I love this because I CAN GET ALL THE SUPPLIES overseas! :) So thank you!

Love it! I've been wanting to try one of these but I am admittedly nervous. You'd think coffee filters wouldn't be so intimidating!

It does look like carnations, Manuela! I like this because it looks quick and inexpensive to do. I may have to give this a try. Love both the round and rectangular shapes. I really like the jewel embellishment you added to the bow at the top of the rectangular one.
I love this. I remember you did it before and wondered about it again when you posted about it recently. The $1 store sells wreath forms too. A whole wreath for $2 sounds good to me! ;-)
It certainly does look like carnations! That's the first thing that popped into my mind after I opened your post up and saw the first picture. Beautiful!
Thank you! I am recovering from knee surgery and a fall, (in that order, unfortunately!) and I need an easy craft activity...I can't wait to make my wreath.
Now to tell hubby that we need more coffee filters from the dollar store!
Thank you again!
Thanks for this post Manuela! I will so enjoy making one of these!
So cute and looks great where you have it hanging!
It does look like a carnation wreath! It's absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for the how-to.:)
Manuela this is so cute and it really does look like carnations.
When I saw the title of your post "I thought, "what?" Thinking it wouldn't be too cute. But I should have known that you would only post awesome projects! This is so cute!
Thanks Manuela, I am so wanting to make one of those. I really like the looks of them, and like you said, they are very inexpensive. So I think I will. Thanks again. Hugs, Cindy S
Manuela, is there NOTHING you can't do? Or decorate? I love this project. I'm making it!
Brenda
That is adorable!! Imagine all the different places you could use one of those. The way you used poster board for the back makes it easy to use in lots of different applications. You are smart!
This is a great project and it does look like carnations...very pretty! Thanks for telling us how to make one. I have added this to my project list.
Oh this is so going on my to do list! I need it for my kitchen transformation. Hmmm - maybe a red tinge on the brown ones? Little food coloring for dye? Lovin' this idea!
Love it girl...thanks for the tut...hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
So pretty I love it, thanks for sharing! Sue
I'm inspired. I think I can do that. Adorable wreath.
I LOVE it. It looks beautiful and it sounds so easy! Thanks so much for sharing.♥
I like to make single flowers. I just tie twine or ribbon on the bottom. I have put them in mason jars with various things on them or in teacups. I usually use my old coffee to stain them.
This is so pretty. I think I'd like to make one for my mother.
Thank you for this tutorial. The finished wreath looks SO pretty, looks like I'm going to be buying some coffee filters really soon!
That is an amazing idea! I love the shape and it sure does look like flowers. The bow is precious.
Thank you for your kind words about my blog rut. I'll snap out of it soon I'm sure. I didn't mean to focus that much on the silly follower button. It just didn't help matters that it has happened so often in the last few months with losing so many. I am very blessed and thankful to have blog friends like you. You're the best!
Genuis indeed! I guess you could do the same with colored tissue paper right?
Beautiful wreaths! Thanks!
This is so beautiful, Manuela. I think I'll have to make one for myself. Thanks for the tutorial. :-)
Carol
That is so pretty!
You re so very clever!! I can't wait to see what you do next!!

Love it! It looks like something you would see at a high end design store costing a lot of money! You are so creative!
So pretty!
Loved the pictures of your beautiful yard! I wheelbarrowed about 12 loads of mulch from the pile a tree co dropped to one of my main beds at my old house over the weekend getting the yard ready for listing the house. Boy was it a lot of work but it looks great!
Next I need to paint my fence at the new house. Yours looks great.
What a wonderful idea!!

Love to have found your lovely blog.
Have a wonderful day.
Dear Manuela, guess I should have sent this in an email but I am short on time.....:-)
I want to thank you for your comment at Melissa's about blogging for yourself. Your statement was powerful and exactly what I needed to hear. It was so very wise and has greatly helped to clarify my thinking. Thank you!
The power of our words is awesome for good or bad....yes!!!

I am feeling rather silly for not already knowing this, but is there any trick to dying paper? Or instructions on how to dye paper? Basically, I just have no clue where to even start with something like that and I would love to give this little project a try! thanks!!
Brilliant! What did you use when you dyed some of them - food coloring or clothing dye? I love this idea! laurie
I'm a crafty girl and can't wait to try this as I'm doing a baby shower this month. I so love your site and the cheap on the fly decor that looks so stunning. You are definitely a great frugal crafter. TFS
Awesome!! I'm going to have to do this for sure!!
I've been looking on how to do this! I'm so glad I found you!! I'm gonna make it tonight!!! Thanks for posting!! Super cute blog!! Happy Holidays!
Thank you for sharing the coffee filter wreath tutorial. I will need something to go in the place of my Christmas wreath on the porch ater the holidays. I thought your coffee filter wreath was adorable. It looks so much like snow. I may add a few sparkles of giltter and snow flakes to it so that appears more wintery. Thanks again for sharing. I can see your coffee filter wreath as being adapted for all seasons.
Love and Blessings,
Debbie
Thanks for the tutorial. I have seen this all over blogland, but no real descriptions of how to do it. I will be making one of these tonight!!! :)
I saw this and knew I just HAD to make it for my daughter's nursery! I sent the husband to the store last night to buy coffee filters for a lampshade and ended up having almost 400 left over so I made the wreath up today.
Thank you so much for such a cute tute!
