Monogrammed Pillow

It's been a busy weekend so far! I totally reorganized my Christmas decorations - I went through every box I had (and there were a lot of boxes). I tried to put things together that seemed logical to me like the dining room tree ornaments with the tree I used in there and so on. I also made labels for all my boxes. Oh, and after years of using mainly cardboard boxes we splurged on some more see through plastic ones. I think it'll make things a whole lot easier next Christmas!

I got rid of quite a lot of things. We took a packed car full of stuff to Goodwill (that included about 10 pillows I had in storage that I know I'll never use again). I thought about having a garage sale but I just really want this stuff out and I hate all the preparation of garage sales. There will be some happy shoppers at Goodwill when they put my stuff out! We're going to continue re-organizing the garage today. All that to lead up to the fact that I usually write a frugal post on the weekends but I'm just too pooped to do so.

Instead I'm going to show you one of the things I bought at IKEA - this monogrammed pillow.

I really love anything with letters and monograms! Vintage monogrammed linens are usually really pricey so I was happy to find this pillow so inexpensively. They only had two types. This and the other one was "JF" or something like that.

There was nothing explaining why they chose these letters. Maybe they mean something in Swedish or maybe it's just random. I love that it's not fussy. It's a foggy day so it's hard to get a good picture of it but it looks really great in that chair next to the red toile!

I've been thinking about painting my fireplace mantel in the living room for weeks now, so I'm going to do it this week (that way I can stop obsessing about it ~ smile)! My husband put my storage thingie that I bought at IKEA together and I have to paint that - lots of painting going on this week in between re-organizing and cleaning. Fortunately, I already have lots of paint I can use (I could open my own paint store)!

I like to have different projects going at the same time - I get bored easily! I always have several books I'm reading. I can't just do one thing and stick with it till the end without breaking it up! How about you?

But you get a lot done, right? LOL!

The pillow does look great. Looking forward to seeing the mantel painted out and the storage thingy and whatever else it is that you're up to.

(I agree with just hauling the stuff to Goodwill. Just letting go does wonders...hope that you did request a receipt for tax purposes, though.)

That is so me... I have so many projects and I get overwhelmed and don't start any!

I am going to get moving on a couple, though, because we might be putting this house up for sale in a year and I want to enjoy my own ideas for awhile!

I love the pillow. How strange though that 2 letters were on it. Since I recently remarried. I have had a horrible time looking for mongrammed items with an O. Obviously not many around. have a great week.

I wish I lived close to the Goodwill you just donated to. Like I need more stuff! Loved your IKEA post. We have one about an hour away. Our kitchen cabinets came from IKEA. They are very well made and easy to install. AND a great price. That's IKEA for you. Mimi

Yep, I'm a flitter, too, moving from one thing to the next, whether it's sewing/crafting projects or books. I think I might do that around my home, too. The pillow is pretty, and I'm looking forward to seeing your newly painted projects.

I love your cushion. Ikea is one of my favourite stores here in the UK. Bought a new sofa from them the week before Chrismas, now have to redecorate to suit the sofa, so lots of painting here as well.

Manuela...you are such a busy li'l beaver. I have yet to put away my Christmas stuff...hubby keeps pushing me to. I have all my stuff in clear containers...big giant red lidded ones I got at Target years ago..they had them for like 1.78...or some riduculus price! I bought all I could lay my hands on....I need a couple of small ones now....I'll probably go to Costco and get theirs they have there. I will next weekend get my act together. I have been painting to....and putting stuff on the side of the road...people have all picked the stuff up, my hubby can't believe they take it. I'm painting an armoire...a big one..it should be all done today or tomorrow. I saw those pillows at Ikea...I almost picked one..but I'm like...I have to have my intials on it...couldn't get over it though...I'm a werido.

I pretty well stick to one thing until it's finished, but sometimes it isn't easy - I want to move on to the next challenge. However, I'm pretty focused! Love the pillow, the plate and the toile pad with the yo-yos. Have a productive week - I'll look forward to seeing your finished projects. Sally

Pretty pillow! IKEA is so fun.

I've got several projects going ~ not to mention trying to catch-up with blog friends.

Good for you getting Christmas decor organized and tucked away. I'm doing likewise. We also have some painting projects underway.

Just painted the 1/2 bath a warm caramel color (found a gallon of Behr on the mis-tint shelf for $5.00) woot! Also transformed the dated fiXtures from yellow gold to hammered bronze, thanX to my new best friend, Rustoleum universal spray paint.

Enjoy your projects and thanX for the beautiful inspiration. Best wishes for many blessings in this new year!

Fun, fun! I can't wait to get my boys back in school this week and dive into the decluttering, removing the Christmas decorations, etc, etc.

I am in Atlanta too and am excited to see a patch of blue in the sky. The pillow is great. You are right the letters are random.

Love the pillow Manuela...and everything else. I'm with you regarding multiple projects and books going at the same time. I have a high energy project that I usually do in the morning (like prepping and painting my powder room) when my energy is highest :) ... then my medium energy projects (like organizing drawers or cleaning out the 'fridge, etc.) which take less physical work... then the low energy projects (like simple sewing or mending, or finishing touches on things...or sorting through my jewelry/buttons/trims/ or working on computer) which I usually do in the afternoon and evenings. I also like to do as much dinner prep in the morning, so it goes together quickly in the evenings when I'm starting to get a little tired. Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring Manuela!
Warmly,
Tracey
P.S. I need to do a thorough organization of all my Christmas goodies as you did!

Hubby wants me to clean out, but not until I am postive with the remodel going on. Maybe I should have took the road trip, to the Good Will and get your pillows. lol Love the new ones you bought! I never seen the plate you are showing, it's so pretty! Remember the black slip cover? Well I may paint my mantle black. lol

I really like your pillow with the MO, my last name starts with O and I wondered if it was someone's initials.

IKEA looks wonderful, but, sigh, there is not one even close to me.

Pretty photos! We don't have a written out budget (we probably should do one), but hubby is now paying all the bills online & I'm happy to be free from that chore. Now all I do is spend the money & I can handle that just fine.:)

Didn't get an email from that group.

Pretty pillows! I cleaned out our Christmas decorations last year, it felt good to reduce the clutter a bit. Guess I should do it every year!
