An Autumn China Cabinet

BrownTransferware
I think it may finally be fall in Atlanta (although I saw someone at Kroger today with flip flops on)! The beautiful fall foliage inspired me to bring out my brown transferware and I spent a pleasant afternoon re-arranging my living room china cabinet.

LRChinaCabinet
The bad thing about living in a small space is that you never have enough room to have everything out at once. The good thing about living in a small space is that you never have enough room to have everything out at once! So I rotate a lot of my collections.

Tureen
It’s always like get new stuff when you take something out that’s been stored away!

appleblossom
Like I said before I don’t need anymore dishes but I just love the Harvest Time pattern (the sugar bowl with the pinecones) and look forward to collecting it over the next few years.

Whitetureen
Some of the patterns are my favorite Johnson Brothers.

creamers
turkey
But there’s also Spode, Myott, and Royal Staffordshire.

aulait
I made this Thanksgiving picture using a graphic from the The Graphics Fairy.

turkeyprint
I saved it to Paint and printed it on cardstock but regular printer paper would be fine also. I repurposed a frame I already had and added some brown silk ribbon.

cups
I have a set of Johnson Brother’s Friendly Village that I always use for Thanksgiving and Christmas that aren’t shown. I’ll have to take the cups down to use on that day but that’s about all I’ll have to remove. Crazy isn't it! To top it off, I've always wanted...Christmas china - there's really no help for me is there. I'm just happy I'm not alone in my obessesion!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

You're not alone! Recently I bought 101 pieces of Friendly Village at an estate sale, and I am so enjoying using them right now. They sure set a pretty table! I like the variety in your cupboard. Sally

Love all of your brown transferware. I've purchased a few Johnson Brothers pieces from Etsy and am always checking for new listings. Enjoy your weekend!

LOVE,LOVE,LOVE your post... These are ALSO some of my very favorite dishes. I use them as my everyday dishes from September till Valentines Day... I'm in New England AND I see people walking around in "SHORT'S"(not me, hehe), it's 34 right now and I have the fireplace going so I'll be nice and toasty... Have a great evening..."LOVE your dishes, EVERY ONE of them"!!!

Just this morning I was thinking about a Christmas pattern I had seen....but I am officially out of space. You are so definitely not alone.

Your pieces are so pretty.

Well it's a good thing that you have some place to store all your dishes when they are not in use. From what I've seen, you have got dishes galore and then some.:)) Have a great weekend Manuela.

Oh it looks so fallish and inviting! I love that dishware you have displayed. It is finally looking like Fall here in SC too---the trees are so beautiful!

I just LOVE all of your dinnerware. It is displayed in such a warm, lovely way. You are so gifted!

I'm inspired yet again by your post! My parents cleaned out their attic in the summer and found a 60+ piece set of never used Johnson Bros Old English Countryside, still in the original box, with an invoice dated January 1960. The set is now living at my house, and I'm looking forward to using it for Thanksgiving.

Enjoyed seeing your so pretty collection of dishes. I really like your picture. I went to print something off recently and found my color cartridge was almost empty, and decided i did not want to spend money on one right now. I can relate to the lack of space issue.
Have a great weekend.

Your transferware is beautiful, Manuela. I love brown transferware. I have a few pieces, but would love more.

Your china cabinet is gorgeous. Is that piece at the top attached to the cabinet? It is gorgeous!!

Good evening Manuela! I am here at school getting ready for Movie Night (with 600 of my closest friends ages 5-12) and decided to take a look around blogland. I was happy to see an autumn post and even more happy to see it was you! You made my evening... now I can go to the gym, listen to laughing screaming kiddos with a smile on my peaceful and contented face!

Vee said...

Well I can't argue with you here as I use my grandmother's Friendly Village set all autumn and winter. I see that we have another plate in common...the turkey plate in your first photo. I think I found it at T.J. Maxx and loved it. You know how to make a great dishes display and I also like your turkey picture in the old frame...very nice.

My sister let me know about your blog this week because she knew I would love visiting. You are not alone, I'm a "dishaholic" too! I too have lots of dishes and have to remind myself sometimes that I don't need more when I see them. My Thanksgiving dishes are the Myott's with the multicolor turkey. I have the dinner plates and would like to get the matching salad plates this year. I have two sets of Christmas dishes--we have my parents and siblings and their children over each year for Christmas so I use both sets of my Christmas dishes. I have both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinnerware for the children that are not breakable because I know I would be heartbroken if any of my dishes got broken. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I love reading your posts and all your pics!

You are so not alone!

My husband says that I will have enough full sets of dishes that we will be able to give our daughters dishes when they get married.

You made everything look so pretty! I love it. Have a great weekend and a Happy Thanksgiving.

You most certainly are not alone! I especially like your Friendly Village--my everyday china is Johnson Bros. Old English White--wish I had some Friendly Village to go with it!

It's good for the weather to be really autumnal, isn't it??

Love ya, girl! Hope you're getting to enjoy your holidays even in the midst of all your hard work.

You are not alone, Manuela! : ) I just saw some of the Johnson Brothers dishes at CSN. I actually just got dishes from them to do for a review, but the Johnson Brothers were too much. I could see acquiring pieces over time though. I do love the brown and white transferware; I would say it is my favorite colorway, but then I also find myself drawn to the red and white and some black and white that I've seen. I'm a hopeless case myself, because I have no place to put these things. I really need a buffet, but since we are hoping to move next year, too, I'd rather wait and see what I'm dealing with house-wise.

Hi Manuela! I love your pretty Fallen dishes! You have them displayed so nicely too. I love the turkeys and pine cones! Hope you're doing well and have a blessed Thanksgiving.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Your dishes are beautiful! I have a small home too, so I know what you mean about having to rotate collections. But I think that makes it more fun...think how boring it would be if all the "pretties" that we have were all displayed at once - and then we had nothing new to look forward to! ;-)

Kelly said...

Another small-house girl here....but it's definitely fun to feel like the stored-away goodies are new again when you unpack them. :) I love how you do themed china cabinets!

Manuela,
Your home looks so warm and inviting with all your dishes out. So nice.
Savannah and I visited a distant relative last week and she too loves place settings. She had at least 6 sets that she rotates throughout the year. Hey, if you have use it.
Take care,

I love two things about this: First, I think th autumn cabinet is really beautiful with all the browns and really love those dishes you're displaying. I love Johnson Bros. too.

And second, I love that you switch things up around your house. Big house or small house, it's just a really good thing to do. I never did much of it until I started reading here.

I've missed you! So glad to see a post. Happy Thanksgiving and I hope the resale projects are still going well.

Paula@SweetPea said...

I love your transferware and I especially love your knack for making your displays look just right. It's good to see you posting. I hope that you are getting many projects completed to prepare your home for being sold.

I love your Autumn dishes in your cabinet! Oh, my friend, you are NOT alone - there are many of us who share your love for dishes. I almost bought a wonderful set recently that was on sale in a neat, little shop near my home. I love Johnson Bros. dishes, no matter the pattern. Thanks for sharing with us. I will change out my little corner hutch in the dining room for Christmas. Someday when I have Autumn dishes I'll do the same as you. Until then, I'll just come back here to take pleasure at the sight of yours!

Dearest Manuela,
One thing you can be confident in, is that if you ever join Dish Obsession Anonymous, you won't be alone...I have to tell myself every time I go into a thrift store or a decor store, that I DO NOT need anymore dishes. I LOVE everything that I see that is white or old looking or, or, or...on and on it goes.
Your china cupboard does look lovely with your Autumn inspired dishware in it. I love your little turkey picture, too. I could use one of those, but I don't NEED it.
Laughter and hugs, cindy

Your autumn cabinet is just purely delightful. All of th transferware is so pretty. Such a variety. I particularly love the plate that is on the side of your cabinet where you see the little house through the tree.

I may have been the person at Kroger with flipflops. haha. I get teased that I never put my flip flops up.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Your dining room re-do is beautiful. What a beautiful place for y'all to gather for Thanksgiving.

Um, I might be that crazy person in flip-flops you saw at Kroger. In my defense, I'm Alaskan with a few year stop over in Oregon. Our weather recently has been much like an Oregon summer and the temps are like that of an Alaskan summer. So, my poor body is a wee bit confused. :-)
