Blossoms

Morning Glories in My Garden Last Summer

The weather has not been at all conducive to being outside. Seems like every day we have some storm blow through here. In between storms, we have some beautiful blue skies for a few hours and I run outside and pull a few weeds, take a few pictures and make a few plans!

So many of the trees are in bloom or already have leaves! Excuse the plastic edging. I have rocks to place around this bed but just haven't had the time to do so.

This is a Quince blossom. What a beautiful tree in spring! I haven't gotten one quince yet, but it's only about 3 years old. Hopefully this year we'll have some quince. Did you know that back in the day it was common for practically every home to have a quince tree? Back then people used to make their jelly instead of buying it and apparently quince makes a good jelly!

Above is a Bosc Pear tree blossom. I've been trying to plant a mini suburban orchard. So every year I add a fruit tree. This year I planted a Fruit Cocktail tree! It'll have peaches, plums, nectarines and apricots all on one tree! Isn't that a neat idea. We'll see how it does. I've read conflicting reports but I like to give things a try.

Strawberry blossom - soon we'll be able to go out every morning and pick fresh strawberries for our breakfast!

Blueberry blossoms - we have 5 blueberry bushes - more than enough to keep us in fresh blueberries and have some to freeze.

These pretty pink blossoms belong to our nectarine tree. The trunk is white because this is the first year that I have my fruit trees on a spray schedule. I lost all my nectarines last year to brown rot and a large portion of my apples. I figure some spraying by me (as needed) is better than buying grocery store fruit where I don't know what's on it.

The jasmine is in bloom - it's so fragrant and covered in bees when it's sunny!

Not all our trees are fruit trees. This is the Redbud tree's blossoms.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my blossoms! I'm itching to get outside to start on my gardening projects. I have so many things planned! I'm hoping that next week will at least be dry even if it's going to be a little colder.

Oh my goodness - i think I would be in heaven in your garden - I LOVE blossoms - so far my trees have only the faintest hint of buds at the tips - nowhere close to blossoms... I am just happy my hyacinths are finally bursting forth in color -- we had snow on April Fools Day - crazy! But that is the weather in the Pacific Northwest - wet and very unpredictable until about July... Thanks for the lovely post!

Very nice Manuela. All our fruit trees are having their blooms. This weekend I'm picking up a quince tree at our nursery which is just a hop skip and a jump from our home. The nursery guy also said he was getting some chili's in that are 5 time hotter than a habanero? Can you believe that? So tomorrow I am calling him to see if he got them in. I like that you garden because that is what we do and I think gardening is what keeps us so happy. Take care.

Beautiful plants! It has been very stormy here too. We have probably gotten 10 inches of rain or more the past week. I look forward to seeing your garden in the weeks and months ahead!

We, too are having snow storm after snow storm. This after having literally no moisture this winter! I'm ready for spring, and Colorado is ready to finally give us all the snow we missed!

Lucky! Lucky! We have 9 acres which we plan to do the very same thing. I wish my "orchard" was as far along as yours. In the older part of our small town, I see orange quince here and there, but I had no idea it produced fruit.

Good Morning,

Your blossoms are beautiful! I regret not taking more pictures when our trees began blooming. Our crab apple tree smelled heavenly! :o)
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne
Ps. We have 4 blueberry bushes! Aren't they the best! :o)

Your blossoms are so pretty! We've been getting tons of rain here as well. I haven't been able to get any spray painting done, so hopefully it will dry up and I can get working on my projects. :)

Your pictures are very pretty. I've never grown Morning Glorys before but I bought some seed and will be planting them soon.

The weather here has been about the same as where you are. I'm keeping track of the weather reports to figure out when I can go and pull weeds and do some yard work.

Have a good weekend

Your blossoming trees are beautiful! The only blossoming tree I have is really a bush...a lilac. I just planted it last year and it is only about 1 foot high. It is getting is leaves now and I hope it gets some flowers this spring.

Yes, I enjoyed seeing it all and I'm really going to get a charge out of seeing the fruit coctail tree. How interesting!

I really enjoyed all of your blossoms. I really love your idea of planting trees that produce fruit. What a wonderful way of saving money at the grocery store, and having a fresh product to eat.

Have a wonderful weekend, Nicole

The photos are wonderful Manuela. I can't wait to see what our yard looks like! They are predicting a possibility of snow, next week. What!!

It did snow on our daughter's birthday in 1983. It was a heavy snow and the date was April 24th. The night she was born, in 1967, we lost all our tomato plants, because we were in a hurry to get to the hospital and didn't get them covered! Spring in Missouri is like a roller coaster ride!:-)

Have a wonderful weekend.

So lovely! Our weather isn't cooperating for yard work, either! I have strawberry roots to get in the ground but it is very windy and rainy today!

Hi Manuela,
My morning glories don't look good right now, still waiting for them to get new growth after the winter.
My roses are blooming though.
Hope you have a great weekend,
Rosemary

Not planting this week-end will wait until the week-end of April 18. My husband and father will build a raised bed this week-end, thank you for the idea. My dad drew it all out since my area is so small. I'll post all about it this week.

Thanks for sharing - beautiful flowers. Cold is getting ready to hit us again.:(
Thanks for checking in. My lists are about a third of what I had before the computer died, but it is a start.
Thanks, Glenda
