Today's Thrifty Treasures

Rhoda at Southern Hospitality is hosting Today's Thrifty Treasures. Join in and share your yardsale or thriftstore finds!

I have two things I want to show you today. A pair of fabulous candlesticks and an oval picture. Both I got at Goodwill.

The funny thing is, I've been looking for big heavy candlesticks like this for a while now and I almost bought some that were wood and on clearance at TJ Maxx for $13 each!

It's a good thing I didn't - right!

I painted them a scrumptious red and I love how they look on my white fireplace mantel.

I'm still playing around with my mantel. I usually like to load it up with things but maybe for summer I'll try a simpler cleaner look.

This picture I bought for the frame. I don't see oval or round frames very often.

I got two black transferware plates at Goodwill a few weeks ago, one I hung in my dining room and this one I'm using with the frame which I painted black, the wrapping paper is from Ikea .

It's now a very nice inexpensive piece of art for my bedroom!

Thanks for taking the time to look at my thriftstore finds!

Hey, Manuela, thanks for playing along this week. Great candlesticks you found, those are nice & big. And when I saw that oval frame, plate & wrapping paper I knew where you were headed with that. It's beautiful & I just love it in your bedroom. That wall color is just yummy too.

I love that idea of the frame showcasing the plate, very clever!
I love the candlesticks, I found a heavy set for 5$ at a church sale. I rarely buy anything new anymore, it's so much more fun and challenging this way.

I just love how you turn around and put things to use right away. I buy them with grand ideas and don't always fix them up immediately. Then it's on to something else and I forget about it. :) Love those.

Love how you repurposed that frame right quick. I didn't think it would last long in its original state. That's an old Home Interiors frame and picture...way too prissy for you!

The candlesticks are fantastic. What an incredible find.

Wow, love how you keep changing the candlesticks! I adore the wrapping paper, frame, and the plate! How is the plate hanging in the frame? With one of the wire plate hanger? If so you sure made them pretty! Yes, oval frames are hard to come by and I need one so bad! Just love your ideas!
