How To Make A Coffee Filter Wreath

 wreath
Hi everyone! I had quite a lot of people ask me how I made the coffee filter wreath when I showed the one below which is in my dining room as part of my Easter decorations.
DRWreath

So I thought I’d do a quick tutorial on it.

Unfortunately I didn’t take photos at the time I made this one because I thought it was old news and y’all had already seen how to make one. But I guess I was wrong!
posterboard

Anyway, I didn’t have a wreath form when I made the one in the dining room. So I took a piece of posterboard and traced around a big plate for the outside and then a smaller plate for the inside so I had a big donut. That’s what I used for that one.
Foam Core Square

I made one recently for my livingroom and it’s a rectangle. I still didn’t have a wreath form so I used a piece of foam core and cut out a rectangle shaped donut this time. Or you can go to the dollar store and get yourself a $1 Styrofoam wreath.
filters
As you can see you need coffee filters. They come in natural (brown) and white. The fun thing about coffee filters is that you can dye them any color you want. I started to dye some red and then decided to go with white.
Scrunching
All you do is take a filter and make a rosette by scrunching the filter from the center and then you hot glue it all around your form. Have your glue gun on low because those filters are thin and you will burn yourself if it’s on high! Ask me how I know LOL!
Inside
I start on the inside and go all the way around and then work on the outside and then fill in as needed. I put the “flowers” close together.
outside
When I was done I glued some ribbon onto the back and hung it off my china cabinet door.
back
I made the bow separately and hot glued it to the ribbon.
bow
Isn’t that easy! It’s a bit monotonous making those rosettes so watch a movie or something while you’re doing it. Also I don’t feel the edges need anything to finish them as the rosettes cover both the inside and outside edges.
 Coffefilterwreath
I think it looks like a wreath made of carnations.

I hope you try it! You can get coffee filters at the dollar store and you can use posterboard if you want or repurpose a cereal box etc if you don't have a wreath form. So it’s a really inexpensive project to do but doesn’t look cheap!

You are TOO creative! I would never have guessed coffee filters - it looks quite Martha-y if you'll forgive the comparison, I mean it in a good way.

It does look like carnations, Manuela! I like this because it looks quick and inexpensive to do. I may have to give this a try. Love both the round and rectangular shapes. I really like the jewel embellishment you added to the bow at the top of the rectangular one.

I love this. I remember you did it before and wondered about it again when you posted about it recently. The $1 store sells wreath forms too. A whole wreath for $2 sounds good to me! ;-)

Thank you! I am recovering from knee surgery and a fall, (in that order, unfortunately!) and I need an easy craft activity...I can't wait to make my wreath.

Now to tell hubby that we need more coffee filters from the dollar store!

Thank you again!

I like to make single flowers. I just tie twine or ribbon on the bottom. I have put them in mason jars with various things on them or in teacups. I usually use my old coffee to stain them.

That is an amazing idea! I love the shape and it sure does look like flowers. The bow is precious.

Thank you for your kind words about my blog rut. I'll snap out of it soon I'm sure. I didn't mean to focus that much on the silly follower button. It just didn't help matters that it has happened so often in the last few months with losing so many. I am very blessed and thankful to have blog friends like you. You're the best!

Loved the pictures of your beautiful yard! I wheelbarrowed about 12 loads of mulch from the pile a tree co dropped to one of my main beds at my old house over the weekend getting the yard ready for listing the house. Boy was it a lot of work but it looks great!

Next I need to paint my fence at the new house. Yours looks great.

I am feeling rather silly for not already knowing this, but is there any trick to dying paper? Or instructions on how to dye paper? Basically, I just have no clue where to even start with something like that and I would love to give this little project a try! thanks!!

Thank you for sharing the coffee filter wreath tutorial. I will need something to go in the place of my Christmas wreath on the porch ater the holidays. I thought your coffee filter wreath was adorable. It looks so much like snow. I may add a few sparkles of giltter and snow flakes to it so that appears more wintery. Thanks again for sharing. I can see your coffee filter wreath as being adapted for all seasons.

Love and Blessings,

I saw this and knew I just HAD to make it for my daughter's nursery! I sent the husband to the store last night to buy coffee filters for a lampshade and ended up having almost 400 left over so I made the wreath up today.
Thank you so much for such a cute tute!
